Love mine, even if the colours on the Leica Cl are nicer. The Sony is a little and beautiful beast

I bought one 2 years ago. I have since returned to mostly film so now the A7C is used primarily for mirrorless scanning 😎 But when I do use it I attach my Leica M lenses via the Techart autofocus adapter and enjoy every minute of it. It’s very solid.

Sony should feature our host in a commercial, as he must have been the all-time A7 Mark1 user. They featured Arthur R. in a recent commercial where he extolls the Sony APS-C system, if anyone else saw that one, an excellent commercial worth watching all the way through.

I've just come to the Sony full frame system after Nikon, and Pentax DSLRs. I played with manual lenses a lot on Pentax (less so on Nikon although I did try a 55mm micro) but wow the focusing aids on Sony have really reignited my interest. I was wanting a telephoto zoom that didn't weigh a ton, and remembered the old 75-150/4 I played with on Pentax. Ordered one for about twenty quid, and it works absolutely great, definitely sharp enough and even looks pretty good wide open for portrait type shots.

Ordered a 135/3.5 shortly after... And mulling over getting a 28/3.5 which was one of my favourite K lenses..

@@dogblessamerica My favourite Asahi Pentax-M lenses are the 35mm 2.8 and the 50mm 1.4 (I use them with adapter on my Sony full frame cameras). The Pentax-M lenses are incredible sharp and render beautiful colors.

Bought mine just before Christmas and love it. Perfect for me as a small travel camera. Being able to use third party, reasonably priced primes was a major attraction. The Samyang 35mm 1.8 is great! I was worried about KZbin’s savagery on the EVF! 😂 I struggle with the Field Sequential finder on the Lumix GX80 so was a bit concerned. Yes, the Sony finder is small but i find it perfectly usable. The AF is way beyond what i will ever need. I do find it lens dependent, as always. Is it perfect? No, but it’s perfect for my use and i suppose that’s what we’re all trying to find.

I was so close to picking up one of these, but I got a great deal on a Lumix S5, so went with that instead. Love the size and form factor though, and if Panasonic ever puts out something like the S9 but with a finder, I might be persuaded to pay full price.

To dear Zenography, I bet you anything that those of us who shot film for many years really enjoy these technological wonders. I have the Sony A7R3 and the A7CR. I like megapixels. Once I got the hang of the CR, it has become my camera to use nearly all the time. It's my megapixel monster or aps-c maiden. These compact cameras are popular due to their versatility. No longere do you need to spend ungodly money on a Leica or Fuji with a fixed lens. You have the same thing but with the advantage of a bunch of lenses to choose from. I can't imagine spending $3 to 5k on a camera with only a single lens. Doesn't make any sense. This CR will hook up to all aps-c lenses to my super 200-600mm zoom.

Seems to me that once you get your focus for these uploads, leave it on manual. The periodic disfocussing that takes place in this and your other uploads could be do to the glare your glasses occasionally cause. It would be interesting to see if adding a polarizer made a difference. It might just be caused by a power fluctuation in the camera as it continues to record. A thin pocket camera wrist strap does double duty by pulling the camera into your grip if you question the grip size.

Digital cameras are old after 4 years ! That’s one of the reasons I like film photography. My Voigtlander is 70 years old, and no batteries

The 24 million pixel full frame sensor is the best sensor for low light photography.

For a significant majority of still photographers auto focus has been as good as they'll ever need for many many years.

Very true with the exception of Fujifilm and their continuous AF. For some reason that performs worse than my Nikon 6006 film camera.

I am not so sure that statement is holistic. Autofocus can be good enough, but it can also still be completely bad. And that can affect the user experience negatively even if some random internet voice says 'it's fine for the majority'

@@POVwithRC We are both "random internet voices". There is no absolute measure of autofocus, just a personal evaluation of whether it meets each individual's requirements. The extreme testing done by some reviewers might be entertaining (or at least they think so!) but it doesn't reflect the usage of all but a few sports and wildlife photographers.

Too bad it has the old Sony color science. Its alright if one is content with a lot of editing and white balance adjustments. My solution earlier was to go from Sony A7rii to Fujifilm and use speedbooster for the bokeh vintage lenses. Results are great. And I can lighten up my set up to APS-C size if I want to.

4th gen Sony is just as bad IMO. As someone that shoots 75% people, moving to a gfx50 was the best decision. No ripping out my remaining hair in post. Id have no problem with Sony otherwise, but for my use case it's a no go. Love everything else about their system

It takes like ten seconds to edit a file. Does your mother still chew your food for you?

you add the cheap glass of a speedbooster to your lens and think the colors are getting better? you are a very funny man.

@@POVwithRC if you mainly have people as your subject Sony can become a pain in certain lighting situations... Skin gradation and skin shadow tones can be horrendous to edit... It's not a ten second type thing lol. Go shoot a low light wedding reception with a third gen Sony. Thousands of photos add up with editing stupid skin shadow tones. Sure, in a studio it's no problem but that's not what everyone shoots... Not bashing Sony and I still use Sony but not for people.
