Its not just the gh5 basically any camera in the last 5-6 years look very similar. I love upgrading, and have a sickness like most on here, but realistically my new GH6 can't get a massively better image than a gh5, sony a73, fuji xt3/4 etc etc etc. Yes my Gh6 is a great camera and I enjoy it, but its not going to give my viewers a noticeably better image to look at.

This was really fun. You know, as far as KZbin goes they all look pretty good. I’m really thinking about picking up a GH5 or GH6 just because they’re just so cool. I ran into Mark Weins the other day, the world in Thailand is very small and I saw him still pimping a GH5. I couldn’t believe it. I love that ibis. Then there is me, my A7iv, Gmaster 16-35, Ronin RSC2 and one very sore arm haha. For me, I can’t really do canon because their whole cripple hammer thing really makes me mad. They are getting better about it. I’m really amazed how much great KZbin content is coming out of Canada. You guys are really amazing. To be honest, for my view you guys don’t have that much to shoot sometimes, due to weather, and all that kind of stuff. But you guys do freaking awesome. If you ever come to Thailand, you won’t believe how much great stuff there is a shoot here.

I wouldn’t call it better - very different - but the image quality and features on the ZV-E10 are excellent. The ZV-E10 is the best value video camera you can buy for online content in my opinion.

Been team Panasonic for about 3 years now and even their lower end mirrorless cameras have stunning results! Ideally waiting for a G11/GX95 with a proper flip/articulating screen to move on from my GX85. People can say what they want about the autofocus but I've honestly never really had issues with it. Also feels like there's less of a barrier shooting MFT with the wide array of different lens available and at reasonable prices. Glad to see the GH5 still more than holds it's own

I did the different test and chose the ones I liked the most... And I liked the Sony and the panasonic more. With slight advantage to panasonic. Funny only once I was tempted with the canon footage (flowers).

Excellent, and very handsome, comparison between these three cameras. I shot a feature film with the GH5, and never once used the AF. If you get your hands on the GH6, that might be another video for comparing it with other cameras because it comes with the "pro" version of VLog. The same VLog found in Panasonic's pro Varicam cameras. Plus, the DR boost in the GH6 can bring more quality to the final image. Anyway, great job.

I didn’t try to pick which was which.. I just chose which one my eyes found to look the best and it ended up being the A7IV in all but one shot which was test 3. They all were really close to identical in that one but I ended choosing the Canon for that test.

Fun! I just did the one I liked because I'm a noob and chose the Panasonic once, Sony and Canon 2x. But not much difference between the three. In this one, it would come down to price, lens selection, ergonomics and specific features but the image quality is negligible between the three.

I thought all looked good and was surprised (shocked?) by just how little difference there was (at least on an iPad). Kind of makes you wonder about all the camera discussions when all perform quite similarly. Usage of course will impact choice and, as you noted each has a bit of niche. It was fun. Too bad little Dougie wasn’t there too…bet the results would be similar!

There's a green hue, especially in skin tones, that gives away the Sony. The GH5 is easier to spot in outdoor settings but under controlled studio conditions I never caught it

Wow, I got every single one correct, except for Test 3. I thought A was the R5 C, B the A7IV, and C the GH5. Not sure why that one threw me off so much. You should have included one very low light test. I feel like that's where the GH5 really struggles (was helped with the dual native ISO in the GH5S). I would have liked to see how the R5 C and A7IV compare in that sort of situation. I'm also curious if you were shooting 150Mbps or 400Mbps with the GH5

11 months ago i bought gh5, i didnt really do much reasearch about it then, i got a new puppy and i wanted great camera to capture my dogs growth, gh5 was popping out in search results as great camera for video so i got it..... it didnt take me long to realize how bad AF is and how bad lowlight is and i realized that gh5 is just terrible for what i need. month ago i got a7iv, i wanted to keep gh5 for some slow mo but im starting to think it would be better to sell it and get a good lens for a7iv. 2 cameras are so hard to use, its just a bit hard to take 300 euro loss because thats how much less gh5 is worth now compared to 11 months ago. gh5 has amazing video quality and stabilization, but its only good if ur target is not changing distance or in other words if u dont need autofocus.. its great for cine movie stuff. but forget about recording a dog thats running, it wont be in focus , ever. even in pic mode.

I doubt that you would answer, but what would you recommend, ZV-E10 or GH5 (no mark), price is approximately the same, I see you have no issues with focus at all, they are all second-handed, and could have something as an addition from the previous owner like cards, cases or else, but straight to the point, if they would cost almost the same but ZV-E10 could have been lensed with kit, what would you prefer? Ibis, stabilisation, cooling system, no rippling/shuttering, 10 bit, for that price is insurmountable i guess, although not so much when it comes to amount of profiles, m43 (even though I haven't found yet any comparisons of lowlight performance between them unfortunately nor know any forums with it..)

I Would get the zv-e10 for what I do. I need autofocus and the bigger sensor is better for lowlight and depth of field. The Gh5 is a great camera if you are not in lowlight and you want to make things like short films as long as you manually focus. The GH5 will absolutely not focus well. Manually focusing is not easy - so I would suggest getting a good autofocus camera for a newer filmmaker. You can still get a great image out of the zv-e10 even without 10-bit. The stabilization is bad, but you can use a tripod or a gimbal

The 3 cameras really don't have much difference. Except in the price. There is a big difference. It's amazing to see how the GH5 with the small sensor can keep up with a full frame sensor. In the blind test, Sony won with 55%, Panasonic with 40% and Canon with only 5% of the photos i liked most.

Love your comparisons. All three look exactly the same. Option C is the only one that seems to have the widest and deepest range of colors. But you really have to look. I've just got into the camera game so bare with me. I just ordered the Sony Zv-e10 with the viltrox 13mm lens on your recommendation. I'm very excited to learn everything about photography. Option A has the best motion in video and Option C just looks the most vivid. I love C the most.

Hi Mark I am a video shooter and have been using a Sony FDR-AX100 since it first came out. The camera is not functioning very well as it is a bit "long in the tooth" as the expression goes. I am considering the A7c (I need the low light capabilities, as well as the EVF) with Tamron 28-75 G2 lens or . . . the Sony camcorder FDR AX700. Your thoughts?

I would get the A7C for sure. amazing in low light. Big full frame sensor - excellent image quality and autofocus. the Tamron is great, but you can also pick up a fast lens like the 35 1.8 from Sony or even the Sigma 16mm 1.4 (it will shoot in apsc crop mode) to get ultimate lowlight. That’s probably what I would do - The Tamron would cover you for most things and when you need the f1.4 you have that sigma there for only $350

I first got into video using the AX100. I eventually picked up the GH5M2 and the quality is night-and-day better in every respect. Low light performance is at least 3 stops better than the AX100. AF is off-the-chart better as well.

I couldn't see any difference on a 4K monitor. Saying the GH5 has much less dynamic range is an exaggeration, slightly less dynamic range perhaps. A final graded image has around 8 stops of dynamic range so the GH5 has plenty of dynamic range but you have to expose correctly in camera while the other cameras give you a bit more latitude but not much. GH5 you can shoot at f1.4 and get enough DOF whereas full frame you have to stop down, so that equalizes low light somewhat. Worth noting the GH5ii is an improvement over GH5 in color and IQ and low light is a better too, and it's a bargain price

The GH5 is more fully featured. 10-but 4.2.2, two card slots, list of video features). The ZV-E10 has reliable autofocus (the gh5 does not and you’ll need to manually focus). The ZV-E10 will be better in lowlight as well

LeemingLUT gives you max dynamic range by exposing to the right and then accurate colours as it is a corrective LUT. If you just used the standard LUTS, you’d be looking at more arbitrary version of what each company thinks looks “good”

look for a used one - you might get it for less than 1000

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The used market is not very big and the risk of being deceived is very real and the prices of used machines currently are like 200/300 difference for new and there is no guarantee. I only buy new and in reputable stores. But I was very positively surprised. Bearing in mind that it costs the same as a sony A6600. I also thought the Canon was too big. Maybe because I don't have the money to have one.😂
