The control dial is perfect to use to adjust your ISO. No need for extra clicks, just rotate to go up and down!

I primarily use a BM 6K. Since I don't us the A7S3 often, it's like OMG, how do I use this damn camera? I forget whats programmed to what and where is Everything. Does the Sony Cinema cameras FX6, 9, or 3 have these types of menus as well?

Great video! I have recently transitioned from a Lumix GH5 setup to the A7SIII. I shoot solo KZbin stuff mostly and love the idea of toggling the Af/MF with the remote set to garbage can. I am usinng the Sony RMT-DSLR2 and cannot get the garbage can button to swap between AF/MF even though the button on the camera is set to that. If I use the playback feature on the remote it will allow me to delete footage, but that's not really valuable to me. I am curious if you ran into that and if you have any workarounds? Thanks! Love the channel.

Fantastic video! I was wondering if you ever had issues with the auto touch tracking just stop working? I have this happen pretty much every time I shoot and the only way I can get it to function again is by powering off the camera and powering it back on. Thank you.

Yo...Do you have any tip for the white balance when we need to have it auto? any settings that we could change as it doesnt seem to catch the correct auto white balance by default?

So generally use auto all the time. The only times that I don't, are when I'm shooting log and need the kelvin to match a color grade. Ex: I'm shooting outdoors and the light is changing the grade I use works best with 5600k. Instead of using white balance for that which it will probably get close, I will switch to daylight 5600k preset and that way I know my color grade will match across the board. The other example I showed in the vidoe, has to do with metering settings that are just not worth me messing around with, easier to switch all cameras to 4200k for my studio shoots.

Only If you need 4k 120. I think you can See the difference in resolution from the 12 vs 24MP. But with Photoshop Superresolution you can upres If you need. I like the smaller files of the 12MP.

Excellent, thanks. I have programmed my A7SIII in a quite similar way to yours. Switching the transition speeds with the focus hold button on the lens is a great idea I had not thought of though! One bummer, about switching the record button to the shutter (which I've done too on the very first day of getting the camera :P) is that the record button on the kondor blue handle will no more initiate recording but whatever has been assigned to the A7SIII record mode button. So basically, I don't use the button on the handle. Love the kondor blue cage!!!

Yes very true! I was going to include that bit in the video but I misplaced the trigger cable. But the truth is as cool as the trigger is, I rarely use that. Most my work is on gimbals it's on tripods these days

Hi. Do you get a jittery image on the A7SIII EVF when filming in the 4K S-I 10bit codec. It literally only occurs with this specific codec and is totally smooth with no issues in all other codecs. Main screen is smooth, just the EVF view. I’ve got the latest firmware, reset the camera and tried different lenses with the various stabilisations turn on and off. Wondering if this is just my unit or a more common problem nobody is talking about? Thanks.

Yeah that's good one! It's helpful for changing scenes but for metering you need kelvin or changing the metering settings.

Hey Josh, I used most of your very handful buttons mapping (such a life saver mappings), I even bought the same remote you have... but there is one thing I can't get it to work. The trash button on remote doesn't change the AF/MF. I did set the trash button on the camera to toggle the AF/MF. At first I thought that the remote button isn't working, but if I go in to play mode, it does work and I can delete footage with the trash button on remote. I just can't figure it out. Was it anything else that you did to make it work? It would be very helpful, because I do a lot of self-shooting too and locking the focus remotely would be amazing. Keep up the great work! Regards.

I tried many of the settings in the video including assigning movie record to the shutter button except I prefer it at its original spot on the red movie button. Yes. Swap the zoom for super 35 mode. And you got a winner. And shoot the downsampled 4K as it yields more dynamic range.

I just live on my Panasonic G9, it feels like a good place to live anyway. I'd love to get my hands on the A7s3 but I feel like the G9 already complicates my life well enough.... Crap that I don't use, or can't remember what it is or what it does or where I put this icon in what menu and for what button was all that noise again? Just don't feel like I need any more than my G9, which I love by the way. It's a hard yes just buy it, when on sale for a grand or less! Quick question: when you import your 4.2.2 video, do you convert it to another format before editing or will Davinci handle this natively out of camera? Forgive me, I don't use Davinci but rather Vegas pro for my NLE of choice. Cheers man 🍻.

Resolve can only handle 10bit 422 in Studio Version. If you dont want to pay then use Shotcut it eats almost any codec

Sony has never paid me anything. I make money from views, affiliate links, and brand deals. They have gifted trips and paid for food lodging and flights for Sony camera camp. So that's pretty rad!!! I don't think it would create a conflict if Sony did compensate you for the work you do. You have very real credibility, and I personally find quite a bit of value in the images and video you capture. You have a way of shooting that captures the word in a way that I see it and look at it. I am vividly aware of how much work that is. He mentions it in the beginning, but if you are trying to keep up and forgot: some of the settings will only appear if in manual mode. Switch from Movie mode to Manual and Back again after adding. This stumped me for a little bit haha.
