Wow 😮, is there such a rich vegetation in Colorado at 10,000 ft? It’s 3,048 m, where I live at about 2,000 m moon landscape starts, at 3000 rocks only, maybe some lichen an very seldom an edelweiss (protected, if you pick them, it’s up to CHF 5000 fine) is the only vegetation you’ll fine.

I live in California but I can answer your question, the two hummers at the beginning were indeed BCHU. Habitat rules out BTHU, range rules out ANHU and rather plain colored and elongated body rules out RUHU.

6:35, that’s why it’s my favourite lens over all systems. FYC, I am like you originally a Nikon shooter, but that 9m2 with it’s stacked sensor and for landscape the 7RM4 having this 15.5 stops 61 megapixel sensor in combination with that awesome 24-105 f4 (only a G, but man, I love that lens, it’s so sharp it perfectly suits that 61 megapixel resolution), just wow. One thing I must confess: the brilliance/look/quality/colours created by the D500 and D850 are still way above the Sony output. A camera is an image processor as whole system, not only the sensor... Just my humble opinion. I wished a lens like the 100-400 GM would be available for Nikon having 89 cm min focus distance over all zoom range.

That one was a good feedback. In case if you were given a choice to choose from either d850 500mm pf and sony a9 200-600mm which one would you prefer and why. And this is for bird photography that yu may have to crop occasionally

An impressive variety of wildlife, beautifully photographed and backed by story telling guaranteed to make a person smile. Were these taken recently or are they from your close bear encounter? The mountain sunrise near the opening of the video was magnificent and would have made the trip worthwhile all by itself.

Thanks Mark for the great story and even better photos. I remember those birds from last year's trip with you. :) You've given us some needed relief from this mess. As for birds, I was out shooting yesterday in a nearby park (social distancing) and came across a hummingbird sitting her nest. Got some great images. From what I've read, the female does all the work...builds the nest, sits the eggs, feeds the chicks. Be safe. I look forward to shooting with you again.

Amazing shots. I am beginner photographer. Few months ago got my first camera "Nikon D3500". Since I am stuck at home am trying to get shots of purple Sunbird in flight. Can I use sony apsc cameras (latest gen like a6400) or a DSLR like D7500 would be better. Which one acquires focus faster especially on birds this small, in flight. Please note I generally don't setup shot and shoot wherever I find them. Budget is a concern as I am not a professional photographer but more of a hobbiest and at max will be sharing images online. If not too much to ask can you create video review of 300mm f4 from Nikon on apsc bodies. Seems like a perfect combo for someone like me, who is looking for light weight, relatively affordable options compared to big primes. And how does it compares to 500mm f5.6 on full frame sensor? That would be great. Thanks a lot. Sorry wrote too much. Have a lot of free time at hand due to lockdown.

Mark, awesome photography, plus excellent editing to tell a remarkable story! I saw sphynx moths as a very young child, while playing during those forever-long summers, and wondered what they could be, looking so much like a hummingbird yet obviously different. Working with my Mom in the garden, one came by, so I asked her what it was. She peered at it and said "That? Oh, that's a humbug." with great authority, and resumed her gardening. From that day forward, this fascinating creature shall be forever known in my family as a 'humbug'. To this day, at our annual summer gatherings of friends and family, we all get confused looks when we point out the 'humbugs' in my wife's garden. Thanks for bringing back these memories.Dave
