I agree, it's hard to find electronic devices with the same sound quality as Sony, their older units sounded even better.

Those newer ones had parametric equalizers on them. If you mess with that you can make it sound a bit better

I have this model with the sticker on,sony doesn't make them anymore. you can only find crappy ones from unknown brands today.

The 240 is like mine just without the radio. If you don't want a radio, I suggest looking on Amazon for some older units, I think the older one's sound better. I honestly don't know which one is more up to date, Sony no longer makes the 340.

Yes I am, sort of. I have always loved the sound of the Sony CD Walkman.

Hello, thanks for your review. I saw a Sony D-NE240 Portable Discman MP3 CD Walkman on Ebay. The one you are reviewing is the D-NF240. Which one is the most up to date? Also would you know the difference? Thanks.

The 240 is like my just minus the radio. If you don't want a radio, I suggest looking on Amazon for some older units, I think the older one's sound better.

I have dnf341 black and poor is no replacement if Capstan/Spindle Disc broken, hard replace with PSx or Ps1 Capstan

I found this exact CD player at a Goodwill for $5. I looked at eBay and found out these are selling for $120+ used and $350+ new. Every other Sony CD Walkman in comparison are worthless compared to it. I wonder why this certain model is so valuable, is it because it's really rare, or does it have the best quality/features?

Wonderpierrot I personally found this unit not quite up to the standards of the older Walkmans, I have no idea why they are going for so much.

I bought the old Ne240. It broke because the laser is no good. Cannot read I still keep the 240 ,no radio. Waiting to get connection or CD head

We must campaign aggressively for Sony to resume production of personal MP3-CD players. Because thousands of us know that it makes more sense to store MP3s on discs - 'cause that way you don't lose them when your player dies! The companies that still make MP3-compatible CD personals are inept - problems with anti-shock protection, random track skipping etc. So, Sony must be forced to honour their duties to the public. And when we've done that - campaign to bring back CD Audio Recorders!

yeah thanks genmac1 you are right you say get older model cd walkman i buy sony d-ej011b cd walkman sound quality is better then sony cd walkman d-nf340 ps thank you showing review of the sony d-nf340 i decided to by a sony d-nf340 i was thinking of buying it and play you video clip and heard from your review of sony d-nf340 luckily i did not fall in the trap to buy a sony d-nf34 i going to be mad about my self choosing wrong miss take of sony d-nf340 cd walkman

That is surprising, make sure to take of that Sony and Panasonic since they don't make that kind of quality anymore.

But if you want the latest technology for CD players (CDR/RW and MP3), you'd go with the newest one wouldn't you? I'm sure a Sony product couldn't sound that bad.

Can anyone help me? I have had this player for around 10 years now, the only problem I have now is when i place the disc on the spindle, the spindle goes down and gets stuck. Any idea anyone?

I keep using it till today, Only device that is equal on sound qualty as this one would be Iphone 4..

hi... i have a question for you, guy. i'm italian and i have mp3 sony cd walkman D-NE240 but some day ago it stopped to play mp3 CDs but only .wma and this means that it is not broken! it works... so... do you know how i can "repair" it? please, help me!!! All of my CDs are mp3!

I have a question, if anyone can help me. The volume om my Walkman will not turn up past 13. If I try to turn it up more, it says AVLS. Does anyone know how to fix this?
