I restored my grandmother's Sanyo radio cassette from 1977 which my parents now use since she passed 20 years ago. It works great.

8/20/2024. I used your video figuring how to install two bitsy belts on my Sony CFM-165TW Radio-Cassette Player, one from the motor (to the large sheave or to the smaller sheave? I chose the larger); and one from the smaller sheave to the black "solo" sheave. I have a Sony CFM-165TW. After reinstalling everything best I could remember, I couldn't believe it worked, plays forward, reverses, and stops. Thanks for producing the video.

I’ve been tinkering around with a similar radio, trying to get the cassette player working again. I wasn’t expecting an Australian accent I’m glad I stumbled along your channel mate

That was surprisingly easy to swap out the belts! Thanks Steve 👍

I just got one at a garage sale for $1 I think the thing said the cassette player part doesn’t work it has a cassette in it with Neil diamond on one side Simon and Garfunkel on the other but when I press play it makes a weird screeching sound my dad the motor wants to turn things but things wont turn

Does it do it with no tape in there? Sometimes its a tight tape or it could be the belt slipping under load.

8/20/2024 me again: I must add that the old belts left an extremely sticky black goo on the sheaves (and on my fingers!), and I used several cotton swabs (Q tips), pinched flat with pliers, dipped in alcohol, around and around in the grooves of the sheaves, to remove the goo. Then dried with clean Q tips.

I have done a video on that horrible goo. Acetone dissolves it really well and gets it off your hands as well as the mech.

At least with these boomboxes you can usually get away with cheaper ebay belts without W&F issues.

I replaced the belts on one similar to this. But now the auto stop is not working. Do you have any ideas?

Sorry but I cant remember how the auto stop operated on that mech
