Sony built these things to last I have two old ones one is a Sony DCR hc21 and the other is a DCR hc38 they both take tapes and they still work flawlessly in 2020

These old format disc video camcorders are for personal individual use only which is a niche thing but are primarily for personal home videos . Everything utilize today in the tech market is made for integrating with your computer and networking virally on the web.

Nice. I have a very similar camera, a DCR-DVD301, that still works well, very few scratches, and I also have a few old mini DVD-RWs to use as well. The old battery still holds a charge and lasts quite long. It is a pretty good camera.

Yea it just records onto specific ones DVD-R or DVD-RW get the sony ones. the ones that are +RW or +R wont work

@@simonsusername any DVD-R/-RW disc will work on Sony camcorders. it’ll give a message like “Sony disc recommended” but it’s not that big a deal.

I found not long ago this year at a Church thrift store a Sony DCR-DVD308 with Handycam case, charger,chords and 2 sealed mini discs for $8.49 and in mint condition. The disc it had in it was a recording of a elementary class.. I'm assuming it once belonged to a school teacher.. I reformatted the disc to use again..

You cannot. If it's on anything other than a DVD-rw then it's on the disc forever.

A vr mode is available when using dvd-rws that allows you to delete clips, but tbh theres a bunch of bullshit that u gonna have to deal with later when u got the camera on vr mode, its not really worth it

That cameras a piece of shit. I think you have to by the cable that it never came with to transfer from camera to computer

Finalize the dvd on camera, install the sony play memories home on your pc, connect the camera to your computer, the program will recognize the camera and then youll be able to import the video files
