Wow, I had no idea this was the first Digital8 camera. My father bought one at a Sony outlet store around 1999. I used to all the time to record TV shows and transfer them to the PC via FireWire. Still have the camera too.

Camera came out 1999 but lovely video and you did a fab job uploading it as most people seem to upload poor quality videos form them, but when done well they look great still :) I have the UK version of this camera and it's great :)

can it use Hi-8 tapes?? it says Digital 8 on the body.. means it can’t right? or it can but more sharper quality vids.. im kinda new here just wanna know hha

Yes you can use hi-8 tapes. Just letting you know it will record 1 hour instead of 4 or 2 hours. Digital-8 tapes record 1 hour too so they make no difference. Also the tape records digitally so there’s no difference in quality when you record on to hi-8 tape.

Hello!! I love this test video so much. The quality looks so great. How did you convert this onto your computer? Did you use a firewire cable?
@testingstuff74286 жыл бұрын
Yes I did use a FireWire cable. I converted the video using a 4-pin to 9-pin FireWire cable and got a 9-pin to apple thunderbolt cable to to connect it to my MacBook. I opened iMovie, clicked the import button, and clicked on the camcorder model. Then I pressed the import button and it started to capture the video into my MacBook. When I’m done, I close the import window, drag the videos to the timeline thing, and upload them to KZbin using the share button.

Not bad for a 98' camcorder! My dad has a DCR-TRV130, which I believe is from 1999.
