‘You will barely notice it mounted on one of Sony’s APSC style bodies’, a common point made on all three of of the new lenses. Enjoyed all the reviews and can see how these lenses will appeal to many, largely just for being so small and light for travel or a bit of hiking. Great review as always!

This looks fantastic. I hope they do something similar for the Nikon Z APS- C line.

Sony making lenses for Nikon is unlikely 😉

Nikon has a 12-28mm PZ lens rumoured for aps-c z mount. I would love something like this on Fuji!

I have both the ZVE10 and A7C and I am so torn between this APSC version, or the Full frame one they recently released, as not sure I need that wide on APSC with only F4 as already have the Samyang F2 12 mm for the rare occasion I film vlog style shots. And when doing studio stuff, even 20mm might be too wide. Would love to see a comparison between those two lenses and how both would perform on the other format (the full frame lens on APSC and vice versa).

thanks a lot for this review Gordon! have you tried this 10-20pz lens in aps-c mode compares the 16-35pz in ff mode in a7m4? really curious about how different those two lense especially the distortion etc. they are really close at equivalent focal length and the same aperture, really looking forward if you could do a straight comparasion between them!

That PZ 10-20 looks better all the time. Not suck at 11mm or 15mm, I would have 10-20mm. This would replace my 10-18mm, which would find a home with a family member. The one issue I have is that I bought the Sigma 18-50mm zoom. It fits the bill and is SHARP. Took it to a graduation party and it performed like a prime. So sharp. Now I would have to justify a new lens and it gets harder as I already have a good number of FF lens I use on my a6600 and A7R3. I love the mini zooms in aps-c format for my a6600, the perfect take it anywhere camera.

Great job on the video as usual! 4:29 The panning "jello" is a good reminder Sony needs a faster read-out sensor in future APS-C cameras. At least with these lens released I'd say there is a good chance! Too bad they dropped OSS from this focal range. Focus breathing looks great on this lens.

I know, the skewing is terrible! Plus the max 4000th shutter is a nightmare when shooting large apertures in daylight

How much does the image circle cover across the zoom range? Would love to use it on full frame without spending a ton on a FF 12-24 that doesn't accept circular filter.
@cameralabs2 жыл бұрын
I'll try it and see, but suspect it won't be very usable on FF. Remember it already employs a lot of corrections
@frankfeng27012 жыл бұрын
@@cameralabs The old 10-18 has FF coverage around 12-16mm. I think the new 10-20 without IBIS shouldn't be too bad.

I amb still undecided which among the three would complement best a bàsic 18-50 lens, to allow for dramatic landscape photography

Unless you want a fixed prime lens, I'd get the 10-20 zoom.

Hi Gordon. Thanks for these reviews. Very well done. I have a question for you (or for the internet if any others have any advice to give). I have a small KZbin channel that focuses on mountain biking. I've been using a GoPro for POV and for vlog intros. I'll continue using the GoPro for POV but am going to purchase a Sony FX30 for the vlog intros (both hand-held outdoors and on a tripod in my office). My question is around lenses. I'm think the "Sony E 11m f1.8" sounds perfect for the indoor and outdoor vlogging, but I also want to use the camera for action shots filming people riding mountain bikes (generally 10-30 feet away). I'm at a loss at what lens would be best for the FX30 for that situation. I really am ignorant on lenses so I don't even know what to look for. Something with good width for that kind of shooting and something that can handle the speed of action shooting (moving target and moving camera)? Maybe something with zoom? I'll probably use a gimble for those shots (video only, no stills). Any suggestions?
@cameralabs2 жыл бұрын
That's a big step-up from a GoPro to an FX30! I'd recommend borrowing or renting one first to see if it's right for you, as that's a big purchase. As for your action shots, it really depends not only how far they are but how big you want them on the frame. A zoom would certainly give you the flexibility for quick reframing. If it's on a gimbal, maybe the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 or Sony 16-55 2.8 to start with.

Hi Gordon! Great video. What would you recommend, sony 10-20mm or tamron 11-20? I'm interested strictly for landscape photography. Thank you

I've not tested the Tamron personally, but the recent models made for mirrorless are pretty good.
