I will getting this mic really love all the features and my favourite part is the fact that I don’t need any cables

100% why I got it, no cables and it’s features are honestly quite nice. The B1M has a better isolation of sound, but that’s to be expected as it has more capsules and more directed. But the audio with the M1 is still nice and adjustable in post. All of my vlogging videos have been using the M1 after my San Francisco Trip.

What about the ATT input? Do you ever use it in 10 or 20dB setting? Or just always leave it at 0?

I have used it in 20db in really loud settings, like a show on a cruise. 10 is also good, but for standard stuff I leave it in 0. And I can just bring it down in post. For daily use I’m usually never around anything too loud.

I've definitely found the mic to be a bit lacking in terms of vlogging. It's not really that good at picking up your voice in noisy environments like a restaurant. It has a hard time separating your voice from the noise which I guess is due to the size of the mic. This is compared to a larger shotgun mic like the Rode videomic NTG (you can't beat physics I guess). It's much better for recording environmental sounds like nature ambience etc. this is where the stereo pickup patterns becomes useful. But for vlogging and picking up voices I find it hard to recommend. It's feature packed and I appreciate the 4-channel recording. But for anything other than recording ambient sounds, I would choose a dedicated shotgun mic.

Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from. Definitely if it’s in a louder environment the mic can be sometimes unusable. The NC does the job 98% of the time for me. But there has been that 2% where it didn’t do anything for me. But I only use the front(left) right(back) setting, or the super cardioid setting. The other settings are pretty much not touched unless necessary. I find I get better control, coverage, and noise using the front/back setting.

Does this have the same problem with the internal shock mount making noise when moving around?

From my experience, none at all, its much more stiffer. Maybe if I jerked really hard. But all my past videos in the last month and a half I’ve been using it. So you can see how it is for more examples!
