Its been 8 years when this was made wow looks recent in 2021!. Once known as the ONE & ONLY this SONY SETS looks interesting. Me as as a fan of electronics would like to see & own these relics again. I miss our electronics our living quarters are so empty dead & boring without our entertainment systems. Great video. 👌👍

expensive for it´s quality i had one complete in 93, i sold it and still use the pioneer bought in 76 with tanoy speakers and celestion ditton series,far better not even comparable ,extrangelly it as surround matrix 4, regards

Hey there. I have a question that maybe you could help me with. I was thinking about picking up a fairly small and inexpensive Sony ES 2-channel amplifier off of eBay. The specific model is TA-N55ES. Would it be safe to use to simply power a sub-woofer or two? It is 4 ohm stable when run in stereo, and 8 ohm when bridged. My main question about it is whether or not it is safe to send a low pass signal to it and only amplify the bass. I can't think of a reason why this wouldn't work, but I wouldn't want to screw anything up. This ES gear is great, and so many of them are in such crap condition. I don't want to add to the pile. Thanks for any info you can spare.

i in late 80´s ,thought it was time to buy a modern system and i along the thousands of ... or millions of dollars spent by sony in publicity ,choose to put in other places a sansui high-end system from 75 and a pioneer high-end system from 77 or 6 ,the pioneer was from my old father wich later a uncle of mine gave me his pioneer system too in 1983 a sx-1980 with some hpm-1500 with a pl-560 or 40 turntable ,all old stuff , i spent at the time around what today is 8.500€ more or less including a second pair of tannoy speakers having some huge ones bought in 76 and i was happy with it a phono stage that made my records sound better but around 98 i started to have litle problems and one day i asked sony how much would i spend to fix this easy problems but not those that one can leave behind it was related with the tone knobs and functions in the cd player , cassette deck and minidisc deck they asked me for a lot of money and i thought this around 10 years after buying it and the MD player even less, so after all fixed i sold everything not loosing any money because when i bought it my family still owned a hi-fi components and video shop, and started to use my old 70´s components keeping the md player wich was good and the menbranes were glued maybe because at the time i still smoked a lot ,and the pioneer and sansui system either than cleaning it, it needed nothing ,and also bought a CEC cd player that at the time they were saying that was one of the best allthough the sony had a very detailed sound and two components apart one to insert the other to execute the functions (that start to fail in less used functions) ,so great sound without any doubt but for the price it wasn´t working a 100% as i expected in a period around 10 years or a bit less, i tried a set of mission speakers and they gave a much clear sound to the system compared to the tannoy´s but that was already when thinking in selling it ,today i have a mix of brands in my system but i´m happy with everything i have ,and still using the MD high-end from sony and works perfect ,just had to tune it once that the TOC function was failing but till today everything works. There´s a variety of ES components and for what i´m aware some were better than others but in what concerns to quality it was a great quality system this ES(elevated standart) from sony. Just got a Sony STR GX60ES 1990 ish and already have a two year old Sony za1100es, the stereo sound quality of za1100es is good but not great the older ES was better i believe

Ambence sound is off the charts ! no other digital sound can compear. Hybrid sound can get you that close like ambence in two way sound. Cinema is the newes and the dolby 10.1 surround sound by (THX) is the talk of the town. Thanks (KZbin) for posting this should have been rare peice the..... (SONY ES-HYBRID)))).

I currently have the STR-DA2400ES. The best products Sony ES has ever produced are the CDP-XA7ES (1) and the SCD-777ES (2). With an honorable mention to the SCD-1ES but because it was just to slow is why I didn't choose it as one of the all-time greatest ES products.

Nice collection of ES equipment. How did you get the rosewood panels on the more modern models? I am still using the Sony CDP555esd, TCK707es and I sold the Sony DAT 57esd. Looking forward for the new HAP-Z1ES and TA A1ES.

I still have a ES 3-head cassette deck which works great. It even has Dolby S! I forget the model, but it was the lowest priced ES with 3-heads and Dolby B,C, & S. I wish Sony was still serious about ES separates. I have 2 Sony digital pre-amps the 1000 and 2000 ones.

Nice stuff! I have the TC-K950ES / CDP X777ES / MDS JA555ES / TA F770ES / ST S770ES. Built like a tank this equipment, and impossible to build these days, way to expensive and to complicated! And cost to much CO2 to produce these days! 😅😂🤣 I will never sell this set! Sound is to good! Sustainable! (easy to repair) It’s very expensive stuf and will be more expensive in the future. All new equipment sounds like 💩 In the days of Sony ES, good sound was the main goal!

i have a 2000 model da 555 es,,it dont work,i havent tried hooking it up using optical cables up to my newer sony bravia tv,i used to have it hooked up to my older 32 inch sony trinotron,i recently had a onkyo 7.1,it sounded great,i sold it but still have the es 555

I have a STR-V555ES Receiver , Bought it new in 2001 and it is still in perfect condition. Was expensive but worth every penny. Solid built Quality and a really good performer. Made in Japan, the newer Sony receivers have more features like HDMI , 7.1 ch etc. but have to much electronic stuff in it like dnla , i-pod support?? WTF.

Yes, a carpenter. But there is a tiny trick. I took off the original decoration using an iron and a towel and put it on the front side of the panel. This way the front look is identical to the original panels. The rest is Fundermax Mahagoni 0504. This was only put on the VA333ES. The sidepanels on Minidisc and Bluray player are original. i bought a integrated amplifiere to use apart from my main system ,the TA-F690ES ,it showed a very clean sound and superb phono stage ,the one released in early 90´s already with remote(not stand-by)and direct access keys to the output selector, but don´t know why the ones released in Portugal and England were diferent in spec.´s from the ones in germany and other european country´s ,it had dual power ,the other´s not and more power R.M.S. than the others ,the one that as it´s instructions manual or service manual in hifiengine is the one with less quality, not saying it´s bad but it´s not the same as the ones(that i know of) sold in Portugal and England ,once i saw a deck being considered good in the quality /price relation on a known hi-fi publication but when looking at it in the store it was completely diferent from the one in the magazine having in comon the reference it was the 611 ,don´t remenber the reference well but it wasn´t a ES

Such a pity that Sony gave up making decent mid- high end stuff. I have an ES system including speakers - it ROCKS ! I went looking for a new digital DTS amp to go with my Blu Ray recently Most of the current hi-fi feels /looks cheap - plastic controls even on £700 amps = JOKE! In the end I purchased another (expensive) Blu Ray player with built in decorder to add to my Sony kit..... Such a pity that Sony (and others) have lost the plot.....

Love the sound quality in this peice. This is befor car start nameing Hybrid ,Hybrid,That was in receiver first it actually was after 7.1 dolby. Very Very hard peice too find; it came out in 2002 and went out in 2006 Hybrid sound. Very crystal clear two way sound Hybrid is< sounds like the newes thing out their wich is Cinema . Wich sounds better then 10.1 dolby surround sound in THX. Hybrid would be up their with (Ambence sound) that should of took 5.1 dolby's place then.

All of this expensive equipment to play digital signals.....aka chopped-up analog signals. I suggest you upgrade and get yourself a nice turntable/cartridge set up and listen to pure analog signals instead.

this is just for the looks , there´s much better material for alf price, i had maybe for a year or two an es integrated amplifier ,pure analog, and the only perfect sound when using it was the phono input for that i give a positive apreciation but not every powerfull speakers are good for this sony series ,and the sony one´s aren´t the best(a pair of old huge tanoy´s were the best i could find and the turntable was a pioneer from 74), this i can talk about because a friend of mine who sold electric apliences had several brands but in early 90´s they gave him the option ,only sony or no sony and his parents kept selling sony it was fashion at the time and t.v´s were sold by the dozens each month and not cheap and this friend of mine opened another store where he could sale whatever he wanted. In my family (my grand parents)we had the same business but from diferent brands ,regards
