Thank you for an excellent review and for sharing the beautiful sample images. I took this lens with me to Italy this summer together with two primes. 90% of the images were taken with the kit lens. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Love the lens! Got it second hand bc I wanted something lightweight and affordable for my full frame Sony to carry around that still has great image quality Btw to 1:03 you can put a Ø40.5mm filter on it :) i have a diffusion filter on mine and you can still put on the lens cap if you have a filter screwed in.

It's a pretty good lens, was one of the first I bought for my a7IV since it was small and light for hiking. I would not pay new price for it though (it's overpriced imho) - either MPB, KEH, or ebay (should be able to get it at half price). No need for higher ISO's unless you are trying to use this in really low light (if you shoot a lot in low light, buy a different lens). I use mine most of the time at or near f/8 and usually 100 ISO shooting landscape shots etc..

@@GaryJahman I actually found a 'new in box' one on ebay for about half of new, likely no warranty that way though. A used one via MPB or KEH would have 6 month warranty, but not as big a deal on something like that vs a really expensive lens so figured it was worth the risk. 🙂📷

I bought it as a first lense paired with my new a7iii. I am a beginner and always been preached 'kit lenses are bad'. But glad this kit lense is an exception. I have been shooting with this lense and due to smaller aperture range,it forces me to explore different exposure setting to shoot in different conditions expecially in low light. Autofocus is fast. Its small size allow me to carry it more when travelling-more shots! Image quality enough to make people think i shoot with higher end lenses. Its a decent lens for its price!
