I use this lens when shooting F1 - for portraits, it blows out the background of the drivers - for cars, the ultra fast focus is sharp sharp sharp - and then adding the 1.4 TC, the sharpness is crazy sharp still. Highly recommend it.

Shot it during the European Track Cycling Championships early in January. Hands down the best lenst I shot and 10x quicker and sharper than their current 400mm 2.8....

I absolutely do not need that lens. But, yes, I would absolutely love to have that lens.

how is it with the 2x TC? This is not that much more expensive than the nikkor 600mm f6.3 so if it looks good with a 2x tc then it should be a no brainer for a wildlife shooter!
@Dan.gibson.photographer4 ай бұрын
@@xaositectz well I’m not gonna lie the 300mm GM with TC is pretty much the same as the 200-600. I think nikkor600mmf63 is a little bit superior but at the end of the day you can use the 300 mm at f2.8 for close wildlife and big mammals.

@@Dan.gibson.photographer That sounds good enough for me as the 200-600mm is quite sharp. Did you try it stopped down a bit by any chance, and what about the focus speed?

Great lens, for some reason Sony sells it without a lens cap. Glad Zemlin Photo makes a good aftermarket cap.
@kjakobАй бұрын
I didn't expect the Zemlin cap to be such a good product. It beats the original Sony lens caps.

Got it had it 6 months now. Easily the best long prime out there. Smaller, lighter and cheaper than 400 600. Those only better if you really need longer reach. Otherwise 300gm just so much better. Easier to use and hold whole day and move around with it. Transport/travel it around is so much easier too. 400 and 600 gm is too heavy and big in size…

Canon has a 100 - 300 at 2.8, that all professionals say is so much more useful focal length. And everyone has converted by now.

Sure.. if that works better for you. Then go for it. I prefer 300gm. Much smaller, lighter and cheaper.

100-300 is game changer for SPORT PHOTOGRAPHY. I'd not say to wildlife, because of the weight it carries. 300 mm gm is more for sport, but also wildlife.. If sport photography would be my job, I'd definitely go 100-300 f2.8 if money are not limiting. In other situation only 300 mm f2.8 from Sony is the choice. 40% cheaper.
@xaositectz4 ай бұрын
Yeah I mean you just have to pay $4000 more than this to get a 1.1kg heavier lens for Canon, why wouldn't anybody want to do that right? Complete nonsense. I would prefer the sony any week of the day. Not everybody is using this on a tripod shooting soccer players.

- Sony for sport and wildlife - the weight and size are huge factors for many people, plus superb results with 1.4x and 2x TCs give you some versatility. if you haven't handheld the lens, you can't compare them. - Canon for anything else, where versatility outweighs the size and weight benefit for you You will always want to go with Sony if price is a factor.
