Bro this video is incredible. Love it. I think for most people FX30 should be the first purchase then as you progress grab an FX3 and use the fx30 as a b-cam and then you’ve got really all you need for professional film making

Just get a wide lens for apsc lol, plenty of them on the market to achieve the “same” wide look! 99% of people won’t notice, especially if it’s to put it on KZbin. Save your money and travel the world, pay for a workshop to up skill yourself. If nobody is asking you or paying you to use a FX3, don’t bother! You can always rent one

Thanks, man! This is the best comparative review of these two cameras that I found on KZbin! You are amazing! Very useful video. But I still hesitate. Your advice will be very valuable. I shoot travel videos and plan to shoot documentaries in the near future. Mobility, speed and autonomy are important to me, because I shoot all day. Also, so that when shooting handheld, the frame is as stable as possible. And to have a good picture in different types of natural lighting. So both will be equally stable they have the exact same stabilization. The fx3 and fx30 will perform the same in day time natural outdoor light. but indoors and dark places, the fx3 will be much better. Hope that helps

It really depends on my style for the project. My instinct says got for z8 if i am using cinema lenses. But the fx3 if i use native sony lenses. But its super dependant on what you are shooting

The Fx30 is not a lower end Fx3, if you don't understand that then you have no business talking about the subject pretending you do. The main difference and that which should be the main point to consider for a potential buyer of one or the other is ... LENSES! All the other stuff is irrelevant in comparison, except maybe for extreme lowlight and optical matching to other cameras. The optical matching is a no brainer, since if you need a lens to work and look the same as some other camera, you have to match the sensor size of that other camera, and none of the other stuff matters. The lens thing is basically that there are 10 times more lenses that are 1/10th of the price for the FX30. Yeah, let that sink in for a moment. An FX3 with a set of good lenses is easily $10-15k or more where an Fx30 with equivalent lenses is at most 5k. Also, people talk about crop like it's actually a thing. It's imaginary. Cropping implies cutting out. That's not what is happening, what IS happening is capturing less of something in badly matched scenarios, ie when using a lens made for fullframe on an APSC camera you're using a lens that creates a bigger image circle than what your camera is built to capture, so it doesn't capture the biggest possible chunk of it. There is no cropping. Talking about it is the equivalent of talking about people who are less tall than others as 'cut downs' and going on about things like everyone should be 6'4" and if not they are a 'cut down'... Not very logical.

The field of view part of the review isn't really that accurate. Sure the same lens gives you a tighter shot on the FX30... But using a wider lens will be fix that.

SO i do say in the video you need to manage your lens selection. But often people forget different lenses render in different ways. So just becasue you have 2 lenses that have a similar field of view. You will still have different looks/ render from the images. A wider lens will introduce distortion and bowing

I believe the FX6 is a slightly better value option than the FX3. If you have the extra $2000, I would grab the FX6 and get an FX3 or FX30 as a B cam. The FX6 has traditional Video/Cinema camera body form factor. However, either of these cameras can produce high quality motion picture with the right creative techniques.

Well, you always compare both cameras with the same lens (focal length). And then you mention a few times the wider shot on full frame, and because of that cropping in way more on the full frame. You should have compared both of them with lenses with similar field of view ie. 20mm on the apsc and 30mm on the full frame. Then your arguments would have just fallen apart 🤷🏻‍♂️

@TechThroughTheLens it is my first camera, which means I have never owned any other camera before, but because it is aspc, very lightweight, cheap body, cheap lenses, AI, dual chip, viewfinder, etc. the only problem is heating, but it happens 60fps 4k video, so i shoot at 24fps. Plus I do photos, I get paid for it, so overall it is all I need.

The sharpness between 12 and 26 megapixles is night and day. I was going to get the fx3 but maybe I'll wait to see if they come out with an fx3 mark 2 (one with hopefully 26 megapixels).
