SONY HDD-1000による既存の記録済テープの再生動画です。
記録環境や記録機材の状態等は不明です。
This is a playback movie of an existing recorded tape by SONY HDD-1000.
Recording environment and condition of recording equipment are unknown.
We are pleased to introduce you to Sony's HDV-1000 VTR, the "HDD-1000".
The first generation "HDV-1000 1984" was an analog recording VTR, while the second generation "HDD-1000 1990" was a full digital recording VTR.
Both are uncompressed direct recording systems and are positioned as master VTRs for HD broadcasts. The "HDD-1000" also features CD-quality 8-channel digital audio recording, with a total of 8 analog audio channels and cue channels. In addition to analog inputs and outputs, the HDD-1000 is equipped with parallel digital inputs and outputs, allowing VTR-to-VTR copying and direct connection to the station's digital network without degradation. The remote is a traditional 9-pin Sony system that can be connected to most editing equipment and peripherals with a single cable.
The operation system is the same as that of Sony's old NTSC 1-inch VTR, the BVH series, so operation is easy, but it requires a large processor unit, which makes it look ridiculously large, and it probably weighs about 100 kg. The tape speed is 80.5 cm/s, which is like a fast forward.
We acquired three of these VTRs four years ago, along with two spare units. The head has been used for about 650 hours and is in very good condition. From the contents of the attached tapes, it seems that they were used for picture quality evaluation at NHK's Technical Research Laboratories. The tape is an ultra-thin tape of about 10 microns in thickness made of chrome oxide with ultra-high coercive force. The tape attached to the main unit is a 64-minute "V64/HD-1D" type.
The HDD-1000 is the tape transport for the Digital HDVS VTR.It requires the use of the HDDP-1000 signal processor.See HDD-1000PAC1.

A true technical wonder of its time. So many hurdles to overcome from acquisition at the camera to the recording of analogue HDTV.

You are correct! Video recording technology requires comprehensive technological development from entrance to exit, especially when new formats and basic technologies are revolutionized from scratch. I believe that the development of these technologies will test the comprehensive capabilities of development manufacturers.

So this one is HDTV and digital , i was thinking that the signal of thoses early HD was analog with a complex shanon nyquist scrambling, for processing the video, the quality of thoses was insane, especialy when you see the 1991 live of TOTO in Montreux, i Hope they can transfert the Genesis 1987 live in true HD, if they still have the tape.

Its not a Trick, its a Sony....In this Years, the Matshuita Concern (Panasonic, JVC) does not have any Idea for HD TV on Disc or Band, especially in the Professional Sector like TV-Studios....

Do you know the resoltion and bitrate of that thing? I assume it's uncompressed. Impressive they had that in 1990 and that there's still a working machine. Is there still a working Unihi machine? Fascinating that there was a HD cassette introduced in 1984 but I can't find much on it.

Resolution was 1840 by 1035, because it's analog it doesn't have a bitrate it has a bandwidth of 30 mhz for luma and 15 mhz for chroma. If you sample it at over twice the bandwidth at like 67.5 million samples per second for luma and 26.25 for chroma both at 10 bit resolution you'd be looking at 1.2375 gigabits per second

Lovely machine but picture breakup on search is TERRIBLE, Id say unusable.. Could it be a fault? If not, Mini DV a few years later had MUCH BETTER picture search, evev though it was a little bit blocky and jumpy you could see a clear image during search.😢
