Hey. On this camcorder the file size depends on the quality of the video you chose and of cpurse the length. With normal full HD recording you will get 225Mb to 250Mb for a 3 min video. I got a free 16Gb Sdhc memory card from sony along with this handycam. And all the best with your new channel. Lemme know if u need any help. how do you turn off the loop recording? i have one of these and yesterday when i recorded a video it went into a 17 min loop, not happy about this, why didnt it record straight through? i was using a 64GB card.

You can buy any HDHC card up to 32 Gb. I suggest class 10 as the high quality recording is not supported in lower classes. Try Sandisc or samsung. Reliable.

Is it possible to take out the memory card after recording and read it through a card reader through the computer to transfer the files out? Or only can use the usb cable that is built in to transfer files? I'm planning to get one of this.

Yes you can take it out and connect to computer. But thats a lot of work everytime. Its rather easier to connect through USB mass storage mode.

Ephraim Kunorishi Nop, as I explained in the settings tour, this cam doesnt possess a power button. So the LCD lid itself acts as power On/Off key. So if you close it then the camera shuts off.

Carolina Carlsson : Hi there. Sorry for the late reply. Hey unfortunately Sony does not give an option to reset everything at once. However you have an advantage here. As there is no inbuilt memory in this cam, all these folders and pictures including MP_root are located in the external memory card. So just take out the memory card and format it. How to pause or play recording video

It doesn't has pause bottom . Just press on record and it will stop . When you press again on record it will start new video . I reason I knew that because I have one . I keep external charger so I hook it to the camcorder and I can record more than 2 hours . Beautiful videos and if I am close to the stage for example in the church then people are having communion I can press at the bottom behind the zooming bottom and take very clear pictures and very fast . Be sure you have 64 or 128 GB the brand San Disk . Otherwise it will not work always record before the event like one minute and connect to the lap top so you can see the video . if it came i it is working then clear the memory of the card . It pays to pay for quality micro card .

Eduard Rusu : Hey go ahead for this. Don't worry. It is complicated only if you want it to be. I mean, if you want to setup the settings manually then you need to fiddle around a bit. However if you want great quality videos and simple operations then just enable the Auto mode and the Cam will do it all for you. Its as easy as pressing the record button and showing the Cam what to record.

+Subham Jena : Yes you can. You can even make low budget short movies with this. If you have class10 high speed memory card then you can record videos in very high quality. You can adjust the quality as per ur needs. For speech and functions u can ise low res which can reacord upto 6 hrs on 16 Gb memory card.

Unfortunately the HDR CX240 lacks an external microphone attachment area. The sound quality from the standard mic is adequate at best, bass can barely be heard.

+Ye Food Kya Cheez Hai : you cannot pause. You need to stop and start a new video everytime. These are raw videos so you have to edit them and lace them as u wish.

XAVC-S and AVCHD are NOT the same! The bitrate (quality) is significantly higher when using XAVC-S. Others have also pointed out that 50p is than 50i (progressive vs interlaced footage). You really have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the technical bits.
