Nice little mod on the AM input. Lot's strong signals here though. I too discovered that there are stations below 88Mhz, they are religious stations with limited licences. Who knew... We listened to one for a while and he was suggesting we need to drink 6 pints (US or 3 litres) of milk a day, real twaddle. Sony didn't sell a DC adapter here, so the plug has finally given-up on because the Tandy adapter doesn't quite fit :(

You can use the gain control on the side to tame the radio if you decided to lift the inductor. might be worth keeping an eye out for an original power supply

Pretty much unobtainium here. It’s a big Tandy power supply, that was with the radio when I got it, but the plug isn’t right. Forgot about the gain control…

Just lifted the L305 on my 2001D it really does make a difference! The difference when you plug in even a short wire to the external antenna is huge, a station that was weak on the ferrite jumps up to 4 LEDs. It behaves like the Qodosen SR-286 and in my tests is now beating it! I have an SW55 but it whines on 252kHz and seems to have birdies on SW not sure if it’s the caps or needs more in-depth work?

It's a nice little and easy mod to the 2001D and it does make a big difference. The SW55 problems usually arise from dodgy capacitors so if you haven't done them then I would asap

@@Radiocruncher Caps kit is on its way along with a better light for the screen. I’ll get it all fixed hopefully as it’s a nice set.

Yes this video was shot when it was still on air. Its good to have footage of these stations that have gone off air

I have a local AM station 200m from the house. That's normally the only one I get on MW Trying to get the price down on the power supply
@Radiocruncher7 ай бұрын
I suspect you would need to keep that inductor in place then Maarten. Good luck with the supply

Hi Graham good afternoon: My 2001D is waiting for some tender care, by the way really nice & interesting video, so two questions are rising at my mind..Which Murata filter you choose180Khz Bw or 230Khz, for FM broadcast?. The other : is there any mod the tunning step for Air Band?.Standard I think it's about 6,25Khz, 25K its really a nosense . Thanks in advance 73's Richard EA1IFD.

Hi. The filter I chose was 150Khz www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290975892597?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-1th37SlRiu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Bott14WpTSS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Airband will work on 25Khz steps but the newer step size is 8.33Khz. There's no way I know to alter this. Thanks for watching
