Thanks. P.S. I finally bought this radio. No distortion at max volume.

Through headphones also? Because its awful on headphones for me. Super quiet, requires high volume, and distorts at high volume.

Seems like it has the exact same issue with volume as the P26. Biggest improvement over the mk2 is that it filters noise on am a lot better and it is less stuffy on AM.

Very good review. I've been searching for a decent pocket radio. The other reviewers touch on overly technical(aka nerdy) issues. Where Im looking for tuning/reception and decent sound. Your review hit these marks very well. Thank you, now Ill just head out and buy it!

I also have one that I'm pretty happy with. It's not technically DSP, I've looked up the product sheet for the SSS16R1482 IC that it's based on and the FM decoding is all analog, the frequency synthesis is the only digital part. That's why the battery life is super long compared to DSP radios. Also, the headphone cable does seem to act as an antenna on my unit. Unfortunately it does exhibit the high volume distortion as well.

Very nice review. I like my P26 very much but thought maybe the 27 would be a bit nicer? The dial numbers are tight together but I think I want one of those 27's anyway.

Wait wouldn't the ICF-S10mk2 be called the ICF-S mark 2?

The headphones for the p27 are underpowered. Its very...very quiet. To get to a nice jam out level of music listening you nearly have to max it out. And it starts to distort near the high end. Would not recommend for headphone users at all. I contacted sony, and told them, and they want to do an rma. Really disappointing. Its my 5th radio. 2nd not made by Sangean. And both not made by sangean had to go back for one defect or another. The other was a cc pocket.
