I own one of these gems. It's been functional and reliable since the mid 1990s. I seem to remember that it originally came with a very long cable antenna for enhanced SW reception.

These are excellent radios by sony basically the set the trend of portable world receivers with accuracy of the frequency and yet very sensitive to recieve weak station too.

I own one of these I purchased at Schipol Airport in the mid 90's before I flew back to New Zealand. I love this radio and did not realise it is sure a revered radio. i will certainly treasure it more. I use it for DX listening for HF Aeronautical station on HF and often can receive Atlantic traffic. I received Gander and Santa Maria just some days ago and Oakland/San Francisco from New Zealand tonight and that is just with the telescopic aerial. I must connect a longwire antenna to the external jack which will improved the reception more. Thank you for the review.

I fully agree these are dual IF conversion sensitive radios with frequecy stability and seletectivity and audio is excellent considering the size of speaker they use. It is always fun listening and tuning it around even with just a telescopic antenna as you rightly mentioned. Enjoy it & many Thanks for supporting the channel, much appriciated.
