Hollow Knight Silksong is probably the best example, but even with Extremely OK Games, if they release Earthblade in 2025, it’ll have been seven years since their last game with Celeste in 2018.

Several reviews and comments I've read or watched always bring up "dated visuals" or "it looks like it came out 10 years ago" and I feel like devs and/or publishers see that and are like "ok we need this next game to look great and if frame rate takes a hit, so be it."

In regards to “Horizon fatigue” I replayed HZD with the remaster, and still enjoyed that game a lot, so decided to start FW fresh again after that… and one thing immediately popped up that made me like it so much less, all the ? Everywhere on the map, and when you get there you can’t do anything cause you need something from later in the story ZD had no restrictions on almost the whole game, but FW has been gated and gamified which has made exploration much less interesting

Ryan is right about we need to appreciate no load times. Other day I playing something took maybe 15 seconds load up and I was like what’s taking so long 😂. Then I remember sitting there waiting for my ps2 to load thought we have actually came a long way.

If someone wanted to get into gaming for the first time, I would recommend getting a refurbished digital ps5 for $350 and then one month of ps plus premium for $18 bucks. That's less than $370 and you have at least 60% of playstation history at your finger tips & you don't even have to buy or download games. You can stream them or download & just play whats available on the service plus timed demo's. Not to mention aside from Nintendo exclusives, most third party games are on playstation. For less than $370 getting started, you can't beat it.

A new handheld for Sony is interesting. It is going to be a uphill battle for both Sony and Microsoft when it comes to entering the handheld arena. Their usual advantage of better graphics and more power isn't going to help them as much as it did with the home console playstation.

I don't think the billion dollar corporations care which console becomes the best sold of all time, for possibly a few thousand units more. In my opinion, the reason for the delay of the Switch sussecor is not to compete to some useless metric, but instead milk the Switch to its last drop and acquire as much money from the dying console as possibly. It's obvious they believe there's still money to be made there.

I still believe the reason the switch has sold as many units as it has is because of all the different limited editions that incentivizes people to buy multiple. Like me for example: I own more than 10 switch consoles across all models because of the different editions. I never really had a reason to buy more than one PS2.

Unless Sony has developers secretly adding portable profiles, a handheld is not going to be playing PS5 games any time this decade. Even on a 6nm process the APU is using a massive heatsink with liquid metal interface and chugging 200w under load. A portable built on the PS5 architecture that plays the whole PS4 catalogue at 1080p, sure, that'll be doable in 2025/26. Every game for it would be compatible with PS5/6, but not the other way.
