Andy, have you come across a closed back version version of the sennheiser hd 600? I have the original marble version of the hd 600, I'm looking for a pair of close back sennheiser hd 600 with the same frequency response, same measurements, same tuning, same sound signature, same bass response, same rolled off treble, same timbre, and same intimate vocals. I'm sensitive to treble and some of the close back headphones that I have heard like the beyerdynamic headphones and the sony mdr 7506 have piercing treble. I use the hd 600 when I commute by bus, walking around, running errands, zoom meetings, playing video games, watching movies, and listening to music. I have mostly open back headphones but I mainly use the hd 600 for everything. The hd 600 treble don't pierce my ears and are not fatiguing and I listen to them for long periods of time depending on what I'm doing. I'm even interested in hearing a pair of open back and close back headphones that are measured ruler flat on the frequency response graph with no peaks, no dips, no eq, no dsp. I no longer use any eq at all anymore since I listen to the stock sound signature that the headphones comes with out of the box. I don't use any dsp for audio because dsp always reminds me of bose whenever dsp is mentioned that's why I don't use dsp. I use yamaha hs50m studio monitors for my 2 channel home stereo system with all the knobs set to flat and set up in an equilateral triangle to my ears. I listen near field when I'm watching live tv, watching my 4k, blu ray and dvd movies and play video games from my consoles like my n64 original playstation slim.

I love HD600 and the problem is I haven't found closed-back headphone that offers the characteristics of HD600. We have to accept the fact that HD600 will forever be unique. Hopefully, Sennheiser would be inclined to make one to complement the legend HD600 deserves

Hi, Sir Andy . MDR-M1 looks delicious and its 100 cheaper so in the near future i might purchase it. Thank you for this review, very informative. What usb dongle would u suggest as a great pair with MDR-M1 ? I listen various genres rock, metal, electronic pop, trip- hop, alternative etc..
@AndyAudioVaultАй бұрын
No worries. M1 comes default with 3.5mm SE so you will be better served with 3.5mm SE only dongles. At the very minimum you can use Venture Electronics ODO or iBasso DC03Pro and the very best get HIBY FC6 or Questyle M12i - all of them 3.5mm and all of them are great for M1

Thanks for the review, how does MDR-MV1 compare to Sennheiser HD660S2? I am using ifi zen dac3 on my pc and currently listen to Tidal with Sony XM4. I tried both M1 and MV1, M1 sounds similar to my XM4 as it is also closed back earphone. Besides, MV1 presented itself with a wider soundstage, similar to Sennheiser HD660S2. If the price for both MV1 and Sennheiser HD600S2, which one do u recommend for music listening? My favourite genres are pop, jazz, and also instrument. Thanks again, looking forward to ur next video.
@AndyAudioVaultАй бұрын
It will be a tough choice because 660s is also a headphone I regard as very well tuned. But If I have to choose then the value of MV1 for being a dedicated Monitoring headphone will tip the favor towards it (I do lots of monitoring) I would not use any of my favorite Sennheisers including the venerable HD600 or HD650 or HD660s for monitoring
@c2s271108Ай бұрын
@@AndyAudioVault thanks for the feedback. Should I be worried for the HD660S2 300ohm impedance with ifi zen dac3? Able to push?
@bratosin1Ай бұрын
@c2s271108 just get the mv1 (I have hd660s /mv1) way more comfortable, better highs. 3d soundstage , deeper bass. Way more less power to drive , you can drive the mv1 from any portable device no problem, the hd660 are hard to drive , keep in mind that both have a very professional sound signature , very natural and linear

Hey there... I am confused between 7Hz Legato and Kiwi ears Melody Planar IEM. Both are different type drivers i know, but ppl say Kiwi did a great job for bass with the planar. Did you listen to them both? Do you suggest Kiwi ears melody or 7Hz Legato? Especially for 'Bass' with wideness and clarity.
@AndyAudioVaultАй бұрын
I don't have both so I really don't know what to say about them
@backupmydude3572Ай бұрын
To my ears 7hz legato clarity is not that good, the vocals are fine, I think if you are not using legato fully seal it sounds balance and still fun with decent clarity, I don't have the kiwi ears melody so idk

Yes, M1 offers wide staging compared to many other closed back headphones, the only one wider would be the open backed MV1

I still dont get monitoring headphones vs others. If they are true to source why they are much cheaper than Meze, Audeze even some Sony models. I have MDR-7506, i was happy until I use Drop 6xx, shy of bass but great midrange impress me.
@AndyAudioVaultАй бұрын
Monitoring headphones are designed to be as flat and as neutral/transparent they can be, without or with very minimal coloration. Monitoring headphones and IEMs are the most accurate equipment to use if the priority is to hear exactly how the source sounds like. Most other headphones are designed to please and will always exhibit flavoring to suits the listener. Also, price does not determine quality, especially not now

Let me know if you interested and I would love to help you to redesign your logo! :-)

Jhonny, between the options you mentioned and the intent you have for them, I would recommend MV1 if you have no need for isolation, but if you need closed back seal, then M1 is a clear choice. Thanks for the offer, for now I intend not to change my logo for quite a while, I have just only recently use it

I was a longtime 7506 user. (30 years plus) and about 10 years ago I discovered CD900ST and heavily modify it (recable/chamber dampening/port, yaxi velor pad) for mixing purpose. It was my workhorse for years. I've been using K371 now and just recently discovered Fiio FT1. I wanted to get the M1 but after listening to @aregina www.youtube.com/@aregina comparison, I might step up to the MV1.
