Thanks saved one off the street today whit this exact problem, removed the capacitor and now the fan works and the volume can go up, looking for a capacitor around (or not 😂)

I have sony hifi MHC -GZR888DA model facing same problem once i increases to volume 10 system is getting off. Whats the solution?

I have on of these. When I turn up the volume, you can see the numbers go up, but it seems to stick on a number before going to the next higher number. Almost like the knob is slipping. Any ideas?

I had no idea this model had a fan in it. I wasn't aware these things were even worth fixing. They are great value new out of the box, but after this many years, you can expect anything.
