I mean... the equivalent of $22.50 USD for an entry-level Minidisc deck that just needed a good cleaning and lube is a steal IMHO (even though that one was pretty filthy). Nice find! And nice repair - always good to see these decks brought back to life. For everyone reading this, Sony had three levels in the series: The first is the entry level plasticky JE (which this one is), the second is the value-for-money JB (QS-series), and the third - highly coveted and very difficult to find - is the JA (high-end ES-series). The "ES" stood for "Elevated Series". Built like tanks and super complex.

Used to have loads of issues on old md Walkmans where the sleds got knocked along the rack so it didn’t home properly and winding it back across (or pushing it) worked a treat

I bought a pack of 20 sealed Maxell discs for £50 a couple of years ago and the seller threw in a JE330 for free. Unlike your one, it was in immaculate condition, working and had the remote control. It is sitting in a box in my spare bedroom at the moment because I already have the same model in my system which I paid £50 for a few months prior to getting the free one. I suppose I should sell the other one but I keep thinking that one day I'll clear out the spare room and set up a second system. It is very easy to buy stuff but it is really hard to sell it, not because nobody wants it but I know that after it's gone I'll regret it.

Here's some tip for you all... do not use IPA on display's screens. It might not do immediately but will eventually do it: tarnish it. Plus IPA will leave a slight hazy residue, you should use methylic alcohol or glass cleaner. For critical optical applications only 99.9% methylic alcohol.

When a car boot seller says that something is ‘working’, when it is disgustingly filthy and looks like it has been dug out of a mouldy garden shed, what they really mean to say is ‘it was working when I last used it around 20 years ago before I dumped it in the shed and forgot all about it’. If they tell you it’s working, unless it’s in reasonably good condition, it probably isn’t working.

Had similar ‘faults’ usually caused by lack of use. A few years in loft.

Yes I think this one was so dirty it had just been stored and not used and the laser sled had just got stuck at it's home position until I moved the gears and freed it up.

Hi love your videos but just want to say I've got two Panasonic svhs recorders two Sony dvd recorders 1 Panasonic 2 tv 4k recorder blu ray hdd which u can't buy in this country, 3 jvc Dvhs recorders all working and I've got about 60 to 70 I think jvc Dvhs 420 tapes which you can't buy any more because they don't make em and they go for between £60 and £140 each. I've dumped a load of my stuff but if you want them all for nothing your welcome just ask for postage to you and il send em no probs and it's not a wind up because I think you do a brilliant job on your videos. Static electricity is more prevalent in dry not in moist climates. Unless air conditioning is used. Then could be a problem.

I've not seen that error before so I do not know what the fix would be. It may be something to do with the sound source not being connected properly if you Google that error.

I think the laser arm was stuck as it didn't move before. After I moved it by hand it was fine. The laser was also dirty and didn't help, but not the main reason for it not working.

That's odd. Maybe the laser is getting weak or I know some models can't play the long play discs but they usually just play with no sound and don't give a c13 error.

Same here. Some discs are playing with sound, some playing without sounds, some just spit the C13 error up so I came looking to see if I could find a solution. It was a £45 player off Ebay. Bit sad.

If the disc doesn't spin at all it is probably the laser that has gone. It could be a bad motor but they don't usually fail.
