What do u think about zx707? It has same chip and amp with wm1am2. I have a question, will it work in dc mode ( not charging) when i plug cable in? I want to use it on vehicle. Thanks and peace.

Do you think only specific apps can play bit-perfect or could all music players because maybe the Sony dac/amp is already bypassing the android stack which resamples to 48khz? I think they are using their own audio drivers but I'm still not sure if all the music apps can play bit-perfect. I'm also curious if connecting to a Plex server will be viable. When you're away from home tunnel back into your LAN with a VPN server on WiFi and then connect to your Plex media server to stream music, but I'm not sure how network shares or anything would get implemented in the native Sony Player. If every app plays bit-perfect I could just use the Plexamp app, or maybe I should try UAPP.

It will only be bit-perfect if you download the file and using sony app to play the music. Streaming music will have to go through android. But it sounds decent enough to enjoy the music anyway.

Will there be Android upgrade support and for how long? The old WM1A/Z will never be obsolete because they weren't Android, and not connected devices.

I guess it depends on google. I don’t think sony will provide upgraded version for the android system. It will remain the Android 11 for the life of the device. As long as Apple Music and any other streaming app can still run on android 11 then it will keep its functionality. Even if one day streaming services can not be run on the device anymore. You can still use the built in player app to play music as what the old version can do.

Hey I'm very curious if this DAP works with a 1.5TB microSDXC card, on the website it says up to 1TB but maybe it's outdated data since cards with 1.5TB are coming out now. Have you tried it or do you think those cards won't be read properly? I hope you respond, thanks.

There is no limitation on the SD card capacity. The website shows it can take SD SDHC SDXC doesn’t mention the size of it. But generally as long as the machine can access the format of SD card, it can read the files in it. Make sure you format it using the DAP before putting anything in.

Hello... I am using a 5v 1a charger to charge the walkman and I noticed that it takes 2 hours and 30 minutes from zero unlike the computer where it took the 4 hours advertised. Is it normal that it lasts less or is the charger inadequate?

Completely normal. Higher capacity charger will charge your device quicker.

@@jorgeluisfernandez2560 There are some technology that only sony is offering. Such as DSD Remastering Engine, DSEE Ultimate,Vinyl Processor, DC Phase Linearizer. Those are very interesting sound settings. I personally prefer using it.

You can only achieve bit-perfect by downloading the actual music file into the folder and played by the sony app. Directly playing the music in apple music app won’t be bit-perfect.

It depends on what you are looking for. This device produces a balanced sound. Some other devices can create a stronger bass. But you won’t be disappointed, as this machine is still the industry standard.

Got the Wm1am2 (Jap Version). I'm quite taken back by how good this thing sounds. I'm using Bower and Wilkins px72Se and the detail and layer separation is stunning, but most impressive is the sheer cohesiveness and musicality. It just sounds so natural and organic . Bravo Sony!
