Sony Press Conference, Part 2 - E3 2010

Kevin was probably the highlight of Sony's Press Conference for me, he was funny, and had an epic speech. What I liked most is when he said "And though we may pledge fanboy allegiances to different flags. Deep down inside we all serve one master, one king, and his name is gaming" I don't know if this was a shot at fanboys in general, or just ones that dismiss casual gaming, either way, good shit, fanboys can suck it, because we're all gamers so what's the point in fighting with one another?

@ForTheGodEmperor GDC is the Game Developer's Conference. In America, it's held twice a year: in San Francisco in March and Austin, TX in September. While they do unveil and show off new hardware/software at it (especially San Fran's), it's primarily a conference for game developers to get together and discuss what's working and not working in the industry and share tips and tricks on how things were done.

@DjFridolf erm no.... the move can be tracked in 3d space i.e fowards and backwards. it also trackes bod movements so you can duck with your body and not tilting your remote.

@poxmuppet It's $50 for the Move controller and $30 for the Navigation controller. But you don't need the Navigation controller as you can just use your normal PS3 controller with the Move

@MrThatOneGuy14 well my bad!! but i never said xbox 360 games were on hd-dvd's the dvd format used by xbox 360 is however out of the ordinary (they have lil more memory and processing power and is able to hold HD content which is why games are in NATIVE HD on the xbox 360 like the ps3).

@phil1818 and where did you get that information from?? that only the ps3 wil be able to produce 3D??? the tech is called:"Stereoscopic 3D", and it wil be fo both consoles(you can look it at wiki) it's a hardware thing has nothing to do with th blu-ray, the first muti-plateform 3D game wil be CRYSIS 2 for the ps3,xbox360 and pc, and if microsoft pulls this off really good, you can't tell me that ps3 will fill realer...and for the kinect, we WIL get use to it, and a FPS should be interesting :-)

@MrObeez um ... no . first : capturing light , like most cameras are made for , doesnt equal to object recognition . to see =/= to know . you can read a book for 10 years and not understand a single word . the ps eye CAN recognize simple body parts , not as detail as kinect , but it IS possible second : the wii DOESNT have a camera . it uses infrared light from the bar and the infrared sensor on the remote to know the co-ordination for the pointer . there's a huge different .

@sumlad1 The thing is, I was at the sony store in the mall and played Motorstorm pacific rift and heres what is happening with 3D. the games like Wipeout HD and Motorstorm PR both were in 3D but the quality of graphics was so terrible. Sony had to chop the graphics WAYY down just to make the game run smooth in 3D I am talking like tires that look like hexagons kind of terrible. Everything was pixleated and choppy in the background. I hope this improves as time goes on.

@MrObeez I know dude, but im just sayin that Kinect is the only motion device that on a slim chance could beat PSMove, but It can't cause PSMove is better, but the only difference I see is Kinect uses ur whole body, to move, but the PSMove uses remotes, but u still feel the accuracy of it though.

@alexv0009 and yes wii started in 2001 and move 2000(rumor, it is unofficial sony didn't exactly mention when they got started), still it makes no difference, sony was only working on somthing they already had(eyetoy) and just added the wand to it, thats it. oh and did you forget that ps normal controller had motion sensing already(which failed epicly) because it was not planed but just a quick brush up to TRY to fall in the wii's category and fucked the ps3's vibration.

@MrObeez 3rd :wii motion plus recently added gyroscope into the remote . eve3n though it adds a lot of precision , the wii simply can not use all the information the gyroscope send . the power needed to calculate 1:1 in real time is too much for the wii to handle . the wii was made with only accelerometer in mind , not gyroscope . if you dont know what are the different between those : DONT EVEN TRY to TALK tech .

@dodgykebaab I'm 26 and grew up playing on the NES, all the way through the SNES, Playstation, N64, PS2, Gamecube, Wii and PS3. Not to mention the gameboy, PSP and DS. I wouldn't touch a Microsoft console with a barge pole though. I remember the NES actually being the console which attracted casual gamers a while before the PS1 did.

@mangekyokakashi Wrong, the NES had a dance mat peripheral in the 80's. OK. Then an add-on for the N64 in the memory card slot where motion control was used where the memory pak should have been.

Also, they aren't using the move to sell systems primarily, they are simply breaking into motion control market.. For the millions of PS3 users, this is a great thing for those who are interested.. @dkoli, Sony was the first to integrate motion sensing on their console with the EyeToy. They were also working on motion control since 2000 but was a working project. Don't play the, Who copy who game.

@MrObeez "What can sony move do that we haven't already seen and experienced from the wii?" Precision and accuracy. Close to 1:1 movement, dual motion controls used in some games, not just one and a joystick. Kinect is simply cameras with good fucking software, that is it! It's software based, look it up on wikipedia... It really is an advanced playstation eye. Plus, you will have to stand up all the fucking time.

Just my two cents here: I'm the type of gamer in between casual & hardcore. I don't like gimmicky, kiddie games & it takes a good deal to catch my attention enough to want to spend hours of my life playing a game. To those saying this is a rip off of the Wii consider first that the Wii basically used & ripped off of Playstation's Eye Toy which came out years ago. Furthermore consider the technology at work that will indeed make the PS3 the best console: PS Move, Eye Camera, High-def, AND 3D!
