Just in case anyone watches this vid in the future I just fixed the belt on one of these by replacing it with a LEGO Mindstorms rubber belt. I used the red one (LEGO part # x37) which they call the rubber belt medium (round cross section). Its bigger around than the original belt, but it seated on the pulleys just fine. I've tested every function and played 3 tapes (both sides) so far with no issue. Maybe this could help someone in the future!

Oh and thanks for the original video...I could not figure out how to get the body apart and this really helped!

It has been 3 years, did it hold up well? This kind of belt? And thank you so much for posting this video.

I could not see how one could replace the belt without desoldering 10 - 12 points to get the main board out of the way but thanks to your video I did not have to do that. Thank you for posting!

I ordered an assorted sizes belts online. They do just fine but the tempo is a little bit faster. Is there a standard size or diameter of belt particularly for the TCM 150 model?

I have two of these cassette recorders and with new batteries none of them will engage. I suspect that it is the belt and would like to repair it. What size belt is for this Sony TCM-150 cassette recorder? Thanks for a reply.

2nd. not 2th. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th . thanks for the video, although i found the manual for the model i'm repairing. i'm trying to repair a few broken tape players that seem to have a loose belt and I hope that's the problem because I've never repaired a tape player before and i don't know if loose belt is a common problem or if it's the motor.

+Greg Gehring If the belt is loose. You must change the belt. If you change the size of the original is the best. If is not have. There is a choice bigger or smaller than the original. The motor is broken into different models, so must the motor to the desired speed.

+somjetn sukros Thanks. I just bought another tape player 12$ on ebay and got refunded for the one not working. The belts are hard to find and expensive anyway. Interesting looking inside a tape player for the first time.
