Peter, I have the same problem as you. In addition to this video, I went through online chat and customer support phone number. I was told I need to take it in and pay for repairs, get a % off a new TV or pay for a refurbished one! I bought it in Jan 2011 (Model KDL-46EX710). Would like to hear your experience too. If I buy a new TV, I definitely won't be buying a Sony again!

My tv is less then a year old, I have done the factory reset many times now.the tv will work temporarily. Then it will turn off automatically and the red light will flicker on and off.i grew up owning sony tvs all my life, but this is a huge disappointment. If you guys have to post a video up like this then im not the only person with this problem and after reading the comments, its clear to me that sony has lost its quality, should have gotten a Samsung

There is a reason I have a 52 & 42 inch Bravias. People moving out of my complex left them behind or just upgraded. My Sony surround sound unit is wigging out tho from the PC hdmi. Flip a coin. One day it is fine, next day no.

I have an XBR that shuts off and blinks red 4 times. I grounded the BL_ERR circuit and it works fine now. I really with Sony provided more info for advanced users on what causes the problem and how to troubleshoot. I found that disconnecting power to the LD board (which controls backlight) should tell me the LD board is bad, yet the TV still shuts off. With all cables connected, It wasn't until I removed the cables going from the main board to the TCON board that the TV finally stayed on. This would indicate an issue with the TCON board, however the 4 blinks points to backlight issue. Plus, the TV works absolutely fine with the BL_ERR circuit grounded, which tells me that the LD and TCON boards are functioning normally. I did notice that the 12V power wires going to the TCON board from the power suppply board are showing 0V.. but then how is the TCON board getting power? I can't figure out whether the problem really is the LD, or if it's the TCON, mainboard, or power supply board. Again, I wish Sony provided troubleshooting assistance for people are aren't afraid to use a multimeter.

Alert Alert.. I just remembered my Sony Smart TV only works when connected to the Internet- it being a Smart TV. Unfortunately I was late to pay my bill and was shut off for 1 day. Maybe we all just need to connect via Wifi or Direct Plug. That helped me.. Lets see if after you do the factory reset- or maybe before. Blessings to you.

I have a KDF60XS955 and was giving me 5 red flashes. Right now it's not flashing red... it just comes on... about a min later... cycles off then back on flashing green like normal.. pic comes on a bit odd then goes off again. Does this over and over. I saw some other things about 5 red flashes but that was for a later model and am not totally sure it applies to this one. It's been an absolutely great tv and would like to see if I can fix it and keep it going! Any ideas about the 5 red flashes on this model?

The two blinking light code is a power board fault. I repaired mine for $15 by replacing 2 MOSFETs and one fusible resistor on the power board. It was pretty easy if you know how to use a soldering iron. Same fix applies to ex500, ex600, nx800, nx700, nx810 and other sets. MOSFETs q6102 and q6101 and Resistor r6536 need to be replaced on ex600 and nx800 sets as it is a common fault on these boards.

Have a Sony KDL-50EX645, it's 19 mo. old. Turn the TV ON with the remote, the Green LED turns ON and stays ON for about 5 seconds. No picture or sound. The Green LED goes OFF and the Red LED flashes 6 times then goes Off for a few seconds, then continues to flash 6 times. I've un-plugged the power cord and reset to the initial settings. I have a Bravia 52"KDL-XBR4 and it works nice until all of a sudden it abruptly shuts down and the red light keeps blinking twice. In this state it cannot be turned on by neither power buttons. My tv just turned on when we have this power black out day after i commented on this video...and when the electricity backs in it just turned on without anyone operating it- its just plugged in, it work few hours until i turned it off but the next morning it doesn't work again ang blinking 8 times... then i performed a factory reset and it works... but i noticed that it respond very slow on the remote control even on the buttons in the tv itself. any idea?

I have a KDL-46EX620 that just started turning off and on again by itself. It does it for about 5 minutes and then shuts off with the red led on the front blinking 8 times. I tried following the instructions in this video and then did a "Power off reset" followed by a "factory reset" and NOW IT IS TOAST. IF YOU ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, DON'T DO A FACTORY RESET!!! After doing a factory reset, I lost all the local channels and it began the initial setup. It shut off before setup was complete.

TV was blinking red 6x , that was it, nothing from this video made it work, i was a tenth of an inch to trash it because it was out of warranty (2.5 years old). i decided to remove all the screws form the back, opened it and just reseated firmly all the connectors, it turned back on (OMG), reset it and updated the firware via USB.... its been 4 days and works fine. i hope it stays.

Hi, I have Sony Bravia KLV-32EX500 which is 4 yrs old. After powering ON, the red LED light switches to green LED light and stays green for 10 seconds. Then the initial start up sound comes and immediately it goes back to standby mode where the red LED light is blinking for 5 time. With gap of two seconds the red LED again starts to blink for five times. Please provide your inputs on the problem in TV and how it can be resolved. Thanks in advance.. When the green LED light is ON tried factory reset by holding the up arrow in the remote and hold on / off the power button in TV. I have a Sony Bravia KDL46V3000 & it's had an intermittent problem for the past 2 years or so. The picture will suddenly go black, then standby light flashes once every 17-18 secs. When it first started, the picture would come back on after awhile (1 or 2 hrs, or sometimes a day). It finally stopped & lasted about 18 mos. problem free, then recently began doing it again. Now, it hasn't come on for about 4 days. This video does me no good. Is there any chance it's an easy fix or am I screwed?
