Unless you already experienced 4k content on a 4k screen and if you regularly watch 4k content, you really dont need a 4k screen. Personally, im always willing to trade screen resolution for prolonged battery life, as thats whats most important *to me.* Others might prefer a higher resolution screen and thats fine. Although i think people make too big of a fuss about it in this case.

I'd go for the OP12 if you're currently looking. You can lower the fps for movie apps to 60 and get 25 hours of screentime. You can get more by lowering resolution among other things, and it charges from 0 to 100 in 32 mins. I'm considering the Xperia V as a secondary handset for Black Friday. I miss hi res audio from the headphone jack.

@NoName-bb2pu3 ай бұрын
Been using Sony for almost 14 years, today just bought the Mark V after using the Xperia 5 and Mark III combined the past 4.5 years, unless I feel very differently, this may be my last Sony phone ever. I appreciated Sony for having the guts to think different yet price their phones similar to Samsungs and Apple. With 1 iii they gave earphones, charger, cable and a nice box. For almost 1450$ the Xperia 1 VI gets a poverty spec box reminiscent of what we get in supermarket egg cartons, no notification lights, no dynamic vibration system, no 4K (ok its overrated) and zero accessories. I grudgingly bought the 1 V 512 gb for 1100$ due to poor battery life after 3 years of use in 1 iii, no notification lights, an egg carton box which I threw out immediately and zero accessories. I feel like a donkey for endorsing Sony's 4K marketing and a very weird 21:9 ratio which many were making fun of, only to have Sony make a U-Turn and then say they were wrong in the past and 1080p is just as good and 19.5:9 ratio is better, they just pissed me off with that. Been a pleasure being your customer, Sony, alas we must part ways at this point, your 1 VI is just insanely priced. The 1 V may serve me a couple of years, after that its Apple for me, way more consistent.

Great video! Lots of useful information for IMO feels like a tougher choice than Sony probably think it is with the VI looking like specs changes are conforming to iPhone. The screen info and formfactor info made it a no-brainer to buy the Xperia 1 V, recently as I rarely end up with less than 45% battery power at the end of 18hour day - with any Xperia I’ve owned with stamina mode and smart connect doing well. Safer sensible battery sizes and restrained charging at 30watts is a positive IMO when I look for a phone - versus dangerous levels at 150watts with added heat that ages batteries quicker. Camera review for snapshot comparisons an opinion is still fine, but for more technical users would love to see breakout videos comparing footage shot for maximum quality for post-editing across all phones, rather than the TV shop mode eyeball comparisons that are great for immediate sharing, but aren’t consistent with the raw capture look of footage shot on full cameras with substantially more detail to lever in post-edit on a workstation.

The MK6's unified camera app is indeed a huge downgrade. There is a good reason to seperate the camera app into 3 different apps in the old design which is never mentioned in any GSMArena review. Indeed in motion video world there are two different classes of video format and they have two different workflows addressing different requirements - video base and film based. Even Sony also offer two different lineup of hardware in her own professional solution division. Video base is more towards broadcasting and film based is more towards movie industry. E.g. video base = XDCAM camcoders Film based = CineAlta camcoders The old Video Pro app is indeed mimicking XDCAM operations and Cinema Pro app is mimicking CineAlta camcoders.

@@AndrewKZbinhandle Yes. Mark V will get guaranteed upgrade to Android 15 and Security updates till 2026.

@@indrockz92 ok thanks. The duration is a shame, it’s not long. It would be great if any phone over say £600 had a minimum of 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates as a minimum. I’ve enjoyed Sony phones that I’ve had but i can’t justify the price with such a short period of OS and security updates.

I'm rather waiting for Xperia 6 Mark I

Well... I guess it doesn't really matter since the 6 is not coming to the US. Been waiting all this time to upgrade to the 6 just to find out it is region locked so importing I don't think is an option. 😭

I really don’t understand Sony’s prices. Are their cameras that much better then on the other phones? Are the phones better? I doubt. Don’t get me wrong- I like those phones. But not on that prices.

Disappointing cameras on both phones. Also 1080p is not enough for a display this large in 2024 :/

The fact that i'm watching this on Xperia 1ii on 4k resolution with 10% of the VI price tells me to keep this for 1 more year 😂

yes, it is still capable and receives feature drops despite being on android 12... i am using it as a back-up work phone now after buying 1 v last year... i would say i do not need that brighter display on 1vi or its battery life, as i am more than happy with 1v's brightness and battery life... might upgrade to 1 ix, and hoping that they bring back 21:9, or at least make another series if they intend to continue with 19.5:9 for xperia 1 series...

Why can't Sony release a phone without disappointing cameras? I'd choose Sony every time if the cameras were competitive.
