Tim Schofield does android pay work on this device in the US? I can overlook fingerprint reader but I think the specs are really awesome for this form factor. I tried the XZ premium in a local Best Buy and man it was really snappy.,no lag at all. Also, the dedicated camera button feature is overlooked and underrated ..can you please please please let me know about the android pay please? I am planning to ditch my iPhone 7 and get this phone tomorrow..I need to know about the android pay as I use that a lot...please advise 🙏🏽 please help another fellow Chicagoan 😁

This is so funny. Everywhere on a Sony phone video you can read "bezel", "bezel", "bezel". You get stereo speakers that are front facing, a great hardware, a snappy software, IP68... Moreover I think some people are saying this just for the fact of saying this. That's more ricidulous!

The Xperia XZ1 Compact is a great phone if you are interested in a compact phone with flagship specs. I purchased the U.K. variant via eBay because the U.K. variant has a fingerprint scanner. I have no complaints to date.

Actually, it does have fingerprint scanner. But it's disabled only in the US(Not sure why though..). You can enable it by flashing the UK Rom on it.

RMNSTD it's only disabled because of a patent but you can flash the EU ROM onto it (which does invalidate your warranty but eh) and get the fingerprint reader to work

This is a review unit, so it doesn't come with headphones. The retail model comes with in ear headphones. Also, the fingerprint is disabled for the US but you could always flash an international firmware and re-enable the fp sensor

The Fingerprint reader is inside the power button, but disabled due to some legal dispute in the US. If you install the OS from Europe on to the phone you'll have it enabled. For me the only downside is the 720p display.

I'm curious about what deal Sony made with the U.S. so anyone that might be curious so us as consumers will know why the finger print scanner is disabled in the US Sony phones. I just wanna know exactly what is going on but the details are not disclosed.

Barkin Bryce, I heard about hp owning the patents for the finger print scanner. I still want the xz premium since I have a ps4 and a samsung curved 4k tv. I plan on getting the Sony 4k blu ray player since it has Sony proprietary LDAC Bluetooth audio codec built in. I have comcast but my internet gets cut off randomly and videos just start buffering out of nowhere and I have tmobile and streaming with them is slow and not fast as it used to be 2 years ago and not fast enough and I stream TV shows using xfinity TV app from my phone since I watch TV shows and watch sports.

Valeria its not just that, its the amount of unused space. The iPhone has a fingerprint scanner to cover the bottom part. The pixel 2 even has front facing speakers to cover that space between the bottom. On this phone there is nothing, like the design of a nexus 5. To me, its not all about the bezels, but putting more stuff on the same amount of space. It's just that removing the space and putting more screen is just an option.

hm I thought xz1 compact also has front facing speakers and it was an excuse for their thick bezels, may be I got something wrong. I like bezels because it's easier to hold the phone without touching the screen. But again I'd love to have these bezels reduced by by about 2,5 mm from the top and bottom, would look great! To tell the truth I don't really like bezeless design, all phones look the same and it's so boring.

I just hate Sony's phone design....my brother had one of em a couple years ago and it's just way too squared off and sharp. Hate it. Look at those enormous bezels on the top and bottom. With a phone that has on screen navigation keys, that is inexcusable.
