I actually like the bezels. All this bezeless stuff makes all the phones look like Fisher Price toys. Xz line looks way more professional than any of the competition. Looks like something straight out of blade runner.

Tom Smith The could move the branding to the bottom-back of the phone and shrink the bezels a little bit. Anything bigger than The Pixel 2's bezels is unacceptable for the price.

I am not bothered by bezel as I am not a fan of bezel-less phone for now, however I think Sony should make the most of those thick bezels, for example they could just put capacitive buttons or sensors on there, instead of front facing speakers and front camera. Otherwise, they should have reduced the size of bezels.

Thariq Mohammed I’d go for XZ1. It will get Android 10, and XZP will stop at Android 9. You are the type of user that stay with a phone for more than 2-3 years, right? So, the XZ1 seems a better choice. And I find XZ1 screen better than XZP(Contrast and brightness for sure are better). Also, no one needs a 4K display in a 5.5 screen. I’d go with XZ1 for sure!

According to Sony, the SD835 on the XZ1 is clocked at 2.35 GHz while the SD835 on the XZ Premium is clocked at 2.45 GHz. I'm really torn between the two phones too! Anyone who has first-hand experience with both phones can comment on maximum screen brightness and other features that are different between the two? With my mobile contract plan, the XZ Premium is only about USD65 more than the XZ1. P.S. I'm currently using an S6 which served me well for 2.5 years but is freezing, shutting down, rebooting all the time now. Not really interested in the infinity displays on the S8 and Note8

To me I think XZ Premium is faster than the XZ1 And the sound is pretty much the same the only difference is the XZ1 is a lil bit louder but XZP is more clearer in my opinion i'll be waiting patiently Oreo update on the XZP maybe Sony will increase the stereo sound on the premium for the camera again I go for the premium but it's not that much different almost same lens capabilities, but in general i think the premium is still comfortably seated has the king of Xperia phones today simply cuz it is simply better to have has a daily driver cuz it's larger and better screen, 4K display, Bluetooth 5.0, 5G ready, etc.....

Awesome comparison, have the Docomo Japan XZ premium, can't wait for XZ1 this November. EMART Korea sells both at the same price but much prefer Japan models for the TV wire and Suica card/Mora compatibility. Great video as always.

I have both But I think overall XZ1 is better Xz premium is only good when it comes to Battery. It last almost two days and chagring is faster while XZ1 gives give one full day. Finger sensor is really faster in XZ1 and it feels good where as xz premium is much heavier and thick and doesn't easily fits in jeans. If you're hard-core user and needs a longer battery go. For xzp.

Thanks for great vid. Their performance and specs are so similar that the decision is mainly about the size you prefer - bigger size could be slightly better for gaming, watching videos, web browsing, GPS navigation (or for old people to see better :) ). If you like compact size to fit into your pocket and your hand, then you will definitely choose XZ1 (or even XZ1 compact with some small compromises in specs). The other interesting difference is battery capacity, significantly smaller in XZ1. However I would be curious about lasting in real life - bigger display eats more, when switched on (and if you bought XZ Premium for bigger display, then you probably want to use that display). Difference in real life might not be so big, or none, or even opposite. BTW - such video would be very appreciated. XZ1 was released later, so the chances are that the update support will lst longer than for XZ Premium (I mean including one more version of Android released). I am happy owner of my trusty Z3 Dual, but aiming to get XZ1 Dual soon, even though they are slightly more expensive than XZ Premium in my country. What I am annoyed with the current phones the most is, that the second SIM slot tends to be hybrid, which is not that big deal, if you have 64GB of fast internal memory already on board like here (no need to use SD cards). As I know, in the new range, there are just two Dual SIM phones with dedicated SD card slots - Xperia L2 (quite low-end with very basic display resolution, but already has its finger-print scanner, as well as, USB-C, etc. However, already now it is known that it should not get Android 8 Oreo) and Xperia XA2 Ultra (interesting mid-range with big display and huge battery capacity, but the high price makes you consider add some money and buy the flagship with all its super-features, faster performance and water-resistance). Those are just my thoughts, no need to agree. Once again thanks for great vid.

Thank you for the comparison video, I find sound very important in my phones especially since its well. A Phone and you make calls on it. So despite xz1 being louder, hearing your opinion on xzpremium having overal better sound quality was a big deciding factor so thanks.

XZ1 is smaller(Thinner and Lighter) full HD and the successor to XZP , is newer with Oreo, XZP is older and bigger with 4k hdr, so your basically getting the same phone with minor differences just like cars and pcs, I have XZP an getting XZ1 because I'm a fan lol

you need to compare of these both again because xz premium have received android oreo, then many users of xz premium said they got 3d camera and improvements in performance, camera, loudspeaker, battery life etc. I was determined to buy xz1 but now again I am confused, but I am sure I will pick any one between these both.

they're basically the same, just the XZ1 is smaller and easier to hold while the XZP is bigger with a 4K screen. personally I like XZ1 more due to the size. if you like the Z5 size, then go with the XZ1

If I did this test 100 times the results would be roughly the same all 100 times. I'm pressing within a few milliseconds and can verify that in my editing software, while the difference in app opening is almost always 1 second or more.

I think in terms of sound volume, in my guess I think the XZP has lower highs but is rich in mids and lows, basically the loudness of a phone speaker has a lot to do with the highs it produces i think if you use an EQ and higher the highs a bit you will get pretty high and crisp volume funny how xz1 is newer but the XZP has a better camera its like sony isnt even trying to improve...

Just bought an xz premium used for 100 usd.. Only the phone without any charger/accessories.. Definitely better than all 150 usd new phones.. There is a way to keep 4k display on always..i have a galaxy a70.. Which I bought for 250 usd.. This xzp beats it in games hands down.. And looks quite unique too
