Sony Xperia XZ3 Camera Review - The Colors, Duke, The Colors!

Sony is not banned in the US while Huawei is. They need to take advantage of that and rebuild their relationship with the carriers. The last Sony phone I had was the Xperia Z3 and it was absolutely a fantastic device. Love the shutter button and build of the phones especially with dual front firing speakers. Would love to see things change for Sony in the US at least.

Totally agreed with you. I'm a huge Sony mobile fan. I actually wrote to Sony a couple of weeks ago. The main reason why Sony's mobile division is loosing alot of money is mainly because of lack of advertise. (not just in the US) Sony make the best phones, better then apple or Samsung, but, no one heard of Sony makes phones, specially in the US. They need to sign a big star like LeBron or Steph to advertise, do something!! SONY lost about 480 millions last year, like, dude,you can sign one of them to a contract, like 5 years, 150 million. I bet things will change. Think about it, Apple and Samcrap spend millions advertising their products, that's why in America, sadly, but, truth, people here only noticed a product and buy them based on popularity.

@@Yong130 yeah I agree with that. That and a lack of carrier presence. Most people just don't buy their phones unlocked rather that's a positive or negative thing. I was actually the first person to purchase my Z3 from T-Mobile at the time because some reason they took my picture with one of the reps. Not sure if they do that for all first sales or what. But they do need to advertise especially during such a huge sports time like now when the NFL and NBA are in full swing.

Ooo.... That was my last sony phone too. I dropped it a lot of times so the screen died. I didn't have the money to buy another one so I bought samsung j7 for the mean time. Now I am back to Sony. Xz3. Omg. I love it. I missed it much. I just miss the z3's screen record and the phone silent timer. That comes in handy while watching movie and you might lose it. You can call it because it's on silent. But since it's a timer, you'll hear it eventually.

@1000 subscribers without posting anything well that price thing is something almost every other manufacturer is having trouble with. While anyone would appreciate a decrease in price, if you look at it more carefully you'll notice that it's not just Sony I mean look at Huawei, Samsung, or even Oppo... Not going to talk about Apple here, they all are selling over $1000. However, you may have noticed how a good marketing strategy and alliances can change perception so much that even when Xperias are just as good as the rest at least, they look more expensive than say Huawei. That's because of how we are programmed to think by the marketers. For example P20 Pro gained all that hype due to dxo mark's questionable rating otherwise that phone really didn't deserve all the bells and whistles or the pricetag it came with.

Finally a comprehensive camera review by a guy that knows basic stuff about cameras ( spot metering, average metering, shadow crunch etc ). And finally a reviewer who gets what a good photo should look like. Aside some serious issues that need to be fixed by Sony - AWFUL portrait/bokeh mode, average quality stabilization in 4k video , Sony has made one of the best ( if not the best camera this year ). Those daylight shots are SUBLIME. The depth, the color processing, detail is superb to anything else out there. This, and the XZ2 premium are in the top5 phone cameras this year no doubt. Only a biased idiot would deny it.

I easily recognize the usual Xperia qualities. Details, accurate colors, etc. Its certainly one of the best camera available, though it is certainly not as great as the XZ2 Premium in low light.

Finally, another person who can appreciate the sound from recording. Stereo has been on Xperias for a very long time yet it's new to others. One of the reasons I prefer SONY now is their replication of reality. For the camera their colours are fantastically accurate and the for videoing or audio recording the experience is truly stereo, almost binaural! Additional their displays don't black crush like the competition and white levels are respectively kept in check. Media on new Xperias is a great experience.

I just bought one. I really like it. The screen is just wonderful. I am still learning all the features. My only negative point is that the text keyboard is narrow and small (compared to others). Otherwise, rush out and get one. It is very, very nice.

Totally agree. Such an odd and simple aspect of the UI done wrong. The haptics are awesome, but the stock keyboard layout, although not bad, is kinda meh... Whenever I buy an Xperia I immediately replace the stock keyboard app with something else. As for the rest of the XZ3 - AWESOME

It's not that I haven't used other brands, I've been using several Sony, and basically Samsung and apple in respectively their year of release and Sony beats the crap out of them in camera. Like last year I compared personally xz premium with note 8 and iPhone X, and xz premium exceled, and so this year with xz2 premium and S9+ and iPhone X, which xz2 premium is far beyond them in any situation

But from KZbin tests I've seen, it hasn't amazed me especially with overshapening and cool photos in daylight, personally I hate such photos, I'd rather have a oversaturated than that. Night shot can't come near sony's ultrasensitivity with crazy ISO, trust me

Inoticed that almost every big tech channel on youtube make bias reviews on anything with a SONY logo, some of them don't even bother reviewing them and they all mention the same bs like the phone is slippery and then skip like 6 or 8 features of the phone, it became obvious that reviews are all about who is paying unfortunately while smaller channels give a fair review like this one, this isnt a perfect smartphone but its solid one.

And also pointing out the Sony have object recognition for some time now and don't call it gimmick like the others so call reviewer. Thank you! This year has been simply incredible for smartphone photography. The Galaxy Note 9 is probably the most well-rounded smartphone camera this year so far, which would be the first year we've awarded Samsung as the best overall if it ends up like that. There are still a few reviews to go before the year is out though (including the Mate 20 series), so anything is possible. Plenty of excellent options out there though, and most will deliver a solid experience now.

It's amazing how Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 Premium are infinitely better than competitors! The photos and videos are very vivid, bright and realistic. Other Smartphones make artificial images in post-processing while XPERIA delivers a richer, full-fledged image with better quality, color tones, contrasts, sharpness, brightness, color, hue and shadows that other competitors can not. Congratulations on the fantastic Sony Xperia lines! Have no Compere!

This is an awesome review! I've watched so many camera review on the XZ3 & XZ2 Premium where I thought "If the reviewer could only take good pictures in the first place, the results might be different." Then I ran across yours and it pretty much told me everything I need to know. I currently have a Z2, that is almost 4 years old and I'm trying to hold out until the release of Sony's next flagship, with the hope of dual or triple cameras. While IMHO I think the XZ2 Premium has a better camera, I think the XZ3 is a better overall fit for me both in size and weight, not to mention it's beyond sexy. Thank you so much for this informative video.

Brilliant and great review! Thanks for being so honest and getting the facts right. Oh, but a little correction, XZ2 Premium has the same front cam as this one. Overall, it is a great camera and like XZ2, fares well against others out there. I've seen XZ2 beat any other phones out there in many scenes. Sony needs to work on the bokeh mode, though. Can you review XS and Mate 20 Pro next?

I have been using Sony phones from the early days when they still had the Ericsson logo on the back the only thing I see that people just ignore Sony all along either they are afraid to give them a try or they are just comfortable using the Chinese brands as in my country a person can get a XZ3 for cheap and they are in New condition I have used a Huawei y9s and a Nokia 6.1 plus, I can easily Huawei was the worst even having 3 lenses God knows why the photos were so unsaturated and looked so colorless Either way Sony and LG are the brands that were ignored by the people due to there own reasons. Hope people understand that Sony is a great mobile manufacturer as they are doing with their new Flagship phones. Hope Sony gets the attention it deserves
