Sony Xperia Z1s Screen Replacement - Disassembly

My experience with disassembly -- make sure that if you're using a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive that you be extremely PATIENT. On the back cover I ended up cracking the bottom left cover of it, meaning it had to be replaced. Thankfully, I still had an old cover I could replace it with but if I didn't I'd have to wait for another to arrive. Moving onto the front LCD, it is an entirely different beast and much more difficult to remove than the back. Similar to the video, you're going to need a lot of time re-heating the bottom and top parts of the screen and loosen each side slowly. I ended up cracking the screen in 2 towards the bottom and had to chisel out the glass at the very end and wipe all the remaining adhesive off w/electronic cleaner + paper towel. ALSO -- Make sure if you are looking to do this that you order not just the LCD + Digitizer assembly, but the corresponding sticker adhesive as well (which I've only found from China directly so ~ 2-3 weeks shipping). Using just sticker tape as he does in the next video is not only more labor intensive, but it does compromise the waterproofing of the phone.

Good video thanks. I have a question. My daughter bit my screen and half of the touch screen does not work. The LCD picture is still great with no damage. Can I use only a screen digitizer replacement? Or do I have to buy the whole LCD digitizer assembly?

wfcmrdavidiam The LCD and Digitizer are adhered together with optical adhesive. IT is easier to replace the whole assembly it would be similar to cutting the glass off of the HTC phones here: HTC M7 Glass Removal - LOCA Glass only

Buying replacement parts online. Some items say LCD not included with the screen and tools. My screen is just cracked. Do I need to get the LCD part as well for the touch screen to function? Possibly a dumb question, thus why I should have someone do it for me but will probably take a stab at it. Thx

When you said the lcd is still good,was that part of the actual screen or is it the flat black square part under the screen after it was removed?my screen cracked on mine and the screen lights up but stays black...cant see anything like my other experias that have broken.

Paul Eskridge the LCD and glass are fused together. it is attached to glass I removed.

Andrew Liu You are welcome, They are two different parts but are glued together with LOCA glue.

amir mirou Digitizer and LCD are fused together. It is easier to change the whole thing.
