I also have a love/hate response here: I LOVE the concept: A 'baby A7SIII/FX3', but with even BETTER autofocus, all the new AI features including AI Subject Tracking(!?!!) and improved menus... but I absolutely DETEST how higher-end/ flagship camera owner like myself (I own an A1) are FOREVER screwed over on doing firmware updates to at least modernize them a bit more... I am an A1 owner and feel that, if you are going to introduce a new category/Flagship camera for your system, you should actually TREAT it as a flagship product... I'm not a full-time pro (only occasion work while keeping a full-time job like many others), so the A1 was a massive investment long-term for me... Why would invest in a future A1II if they don't properly update 'The One'???

@@troywalt4834 unfortunately I have had a card fail on me once so can’t risk it.. Sony FX30 is a better option than this camera and cheaper with dual slots and big hdmi and fan so doesn’t over heat

@@ThisisAOTV yeah that must be a bummer if it's important footage, but maybe it depends on the sd card brand. Personally I will pass on FX30 because all my lens are full frame and also i have joint problems so i am happy in shaving the third of weight of my camera. I would say the only bummer for me is the lack of joystick and front dial but i totally understand why they are not there.

Real... Working with an a7s3 the second slot saved my coworker once, the slot 1 crack and stopped of hold the SD card, but, we change to the slot 2 and finish the job, all fine

I’ve been very lucky throughout the last 5 years of weddings. I have an a7iv and still run with one Sd card. Not professional-like of me but I’ve gotten so used to one that i don’t think twice. For me, its not a deal breaker, though I understand why it’s a deal breaker for you.

Very nice review! All the features really had me second guessing my almost purchase of a fx30. I'm only concerned about low light capabilities on the fx30 and it seems the ZV-E1 might pass it up in that department. Thoughts? is low light really that big of a deal on the fx30 in your experience?

Seems pretty cool for KZbin. I think it would be cool to put it on a tripod in remote area and move around and have it track you. All those crops you better have a wide lens for walking around vlogging. Maybe not ideal for making a short film with heat management. I’m kind of invested in the X mount at the moment. I do have a ZV-1. I like it despite the one inch trash… sensor 😂

I've only been into cameras for a few years. It seems like Sony doesn't update their hardware they have already sold with firmware updates, as well as other manufacturers, so if you are going to choose a Sony camera, you want the newest one to get the latest tech.

I think I’ll stick to my three A7C cameras. They’re made of metal and way better built than the ZV-E1. And 12mp is such a step back for a full frame sensor these days.

Some tests shows like at 25 degree overheat after 30 mins shooting 4k 60p is just not made for content creator. What about over 30 degree in summer, do we only get 15 mins then? 120p in the future will be even worse. It is more for family casual video. Then this might be overkill.

*It's Nice yes, but To Me the ZV-1 originally was also designed as a "ENTRY" Level Vlogging Camera. This is a Nice Camera but to me it's just the Same Camera but different line-up and that's why I'm keeping my ZV-1 because it's small and compact. I just bought the FX30 because I like that it's an entry level Cinema Camera that I can learn a lot about as it's more Video then Photo or Hybrid. It's a Nice Camera but Kinda Pricey for a ZV Line up But Nice review none the less*

On the plus side the A7SIII used prices should come down by an an extreme amount. Used A7SIII, good price is now about 1500 usd :) They will never give you that firmware upgrade. I'm stoked.

Canon’s been crippling their system with their lens strategy, and Sony’s crippling theirs with their firmware update strategy. Sony’s problem seems simpler to fix to me, but I doubt they’ll come to their senses.

lol, You haven't followed Sony firmware updates through the A6 and A7 series if you think you are going to get them without buying a new camera. This is the bad part of Sony. They don't hold back on the new but they also don't keep the old fully up to date.

@@robertfontaine3650 FX 3 got a 2.0 firmware and these all have a firmware update coming for compatibility with their cloud stuff. You can never say never on a Brand that was the last of the last in all things camera and now they are leading in lenses, models, autofocus, features, color profiles and... IBIS with the dynamic Stabe? If one thing is clear is that Sony understands the game. They will do what ever it takes to keep rocking the camera world. Jus when the other brands where feeling confident..

I think Sonys issue is that they try to make purpose built cameras that suit every type of photography/video. I think they added all those features in hopes that people other than bloggers would buy it. Maybe they’re hoping that a7siii and fx3 owners would buy it as a b cam. It seems like they just want their cameras to be good at everything while claiming it’s for a certain types of photo/video. They’re too scared of making it for a single type of shooter (like vloggers). Idk I’m just spouting bs.

@@troywalt4834 The fx6 also has the same sensor as these other three cameras and yet people will still buy it. My point is the “things” its missing are considered important to a many people. Not so much for me specifically but many people cannot afford to go out & shoot with one sd card, they cannot afford the camera to overheat in 1hr, etc. I personally will be getting this camera bc its amazing especially for the price, but I wont go as much as to say RIP fx30, fx3, a7siii owners. Most of them use those cameras in vastly different settings than I do. I remember thinking “well the fx6 is going to be a total flop, its an a7siii with internal nd’s and its double the price”. And yet the fx6 remains one of the most popular cameras on the market
