Response from an active law enforcement officer. Break down is pretty much spot on. If I were to Monday morning quarterback this incident placing myself in their shoes. 1. We would have never been inside of the residence. She called about a prowler. After locating nothing, she would have have been contacted at the door, advised of our findings, asked for her ID, if she didn’t have it immediately available, no big deal, no need to positively identify her, as no crime was committed, and she is not the subject of a criminal investigation. I would have gathered her information verbally. 2. Should we end up inside of the residence, and I found the pot a concern, I would have advised her of my concern, and politely told her I was going to turn the pot off and done so myself. Cooperative, uncooperative no matter the demeanor of the person I am dealing with, I am not telling them to go into the kitchen for any reason. Should anything escalate, there are too many tools in a kitchen a person can arm themselves with. Plenty of times on calls, we have encountered someone inside of their kitchen, for the most part, doing nothing more than routine daily task, cooking, cleaning, etc. Best practice is to speak to them elsewhere in the residence, or outside of the residence. Several times in my career, I’ve found a concern in the kitchen, simply turned the stove off myself. 3. Should she somehow some way end up with the pot in her hands, distance is your friend. The backup officer could have entered the bedroom, and not have been in danger of the hot water. The primary officer could have retreated to the front door. There was a kitchen counter separating her from the officers, preventing her from easily closing the distance and throwing the water. Plenty of opportunity to create distance. Worst case scenario, should she become a threat, there is minimal chance of injury, should she toss the water. In one of my law enforcement groups, an officer stated, Only a demon, would take “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus” as a threat, and I totally agree. Looking at his background in law enforcement, there was red flag after red flag indicating he should not have been in law enforcement, starting with his exit from the military. I have never worked in recruiting, but him having worked at several departments, in so few years would have been a MAJOR RED FLAG. Sadly, some departments are so low on manpower, this may not be further investigated.

Hell yeah Frogman. I had the same thoughts and questions. There was no need to immediately go for his sidearm nor move the pot of water. Just turn the stove off. Why could the partner not turn off the stove while Massey was working with Grayson? Also, if the officer feared getting hit with boiling water, why advance the threat? Thank you for calling out those that know wrong and still choose to support it for their own benefit. Happens everywhere and I always ask myself, how do these people live with themselves.

Thank you for speaking up against this and "Bad LEO's" in general. I too have found myself unable to support the "Good LEO's" any longer due to the fact they are supporting the "Bad LEO's" and not standing up to them. One thing that has frustrated me to no end is how many "Special Forces" retirees have gone on to almost blindly support and train Law Enforcement Officers regardless of what they do. And another problem is how much specialized training the SpecOps crowd has given LEO's in spite of increasing evidence that those same LEO's are not interested in "serve and protect", are not interested in the public good, they are only interested in the "LEO's vs Public", "Us vs Them", "Stand with the Blue OR ELSE" type mindset. These same skills that the SpecOps trainers have taught the Bad LEO's are the same skills they use to kill civilians with more efficiently. Many SpecOps trainers are training the technical skills without teaching or requiring the moral and ethical frameworks and requirements that true SpecOps teams have required internally. So what we end up with is highly trained killers without any restraints, moral framework, and almost complete immunity for any and all of their actions. Which results in people like Deputy Grayson. I truly feel like you guys in the SpecOps community really need to do some soul searching and some internal regulation and be a little more careful who you train and what you train them. Which it seems like you personally are doing this, and it really is encouraging to see. I'm just hoping you can help influence the rest of the community to start to think a little more like you are thinking. And yes, this is a spiritual war in all of this.

Worst case for him, he committed cold-blooded murder, and he should rot in jail until his death, at which point he’ll transition to rotting in hell. Something else I think should be mentioned is that certain jobs have risks associated with them. If I were to enlist in the military, I would not be surprised to be deployed in a hostile environment. It is part of the job. It is the same with law enforcement. If an officer is too cowardly to stay calm in this situation, they have not accepted responsibility for the solemn duty to society they have chosen to place on themselves. These jobs are dangerous, no question. But the danger is to be expected and accepted. If someone can't live with that danger or the responsibility associated with it, they also have a duty to leave the job.

I agreed to the promotion for 2 years instead of retiring and I’m only in charge of 8 people most of the time ( child predators and human trafficking) but have run a few shifts where I was in charge of 4 SGT’s and their 20 person patrol units. The first sign that we have a loose cannon they’re either gone or moved into an admin role. Heck I’m not even allowed on the takedown team as I do all the communication and they know I’ll probably be a little perturbed with them when we catch them. By then I’ve seen their face and genitals and I’m disgusted by their behavior. So please, denounce this deputy as wrong, I agree from what I’ve seen 100%. However that is not Our Standard so please don’t make it sound like all are bad. Back when I was a SGT and ran a patrol unit, if I pulled someone over I almost never gave a ticket unless it was an egregious offense. I’d go up and tell them I’m SGT ……. but you can call me deputy friendly. As long as you remain citizen friendly we’ll get out of here as quickly as possible. I’m not as highly trained as you but have put in 31 years on a mat and am a 5th degree black belt, so I know about self control and discipline. Otherwise keep up the good work!

You need to watch the video from the body cam of Grayson. It clearly shows that she picks the hot pot of water back up (after the initial bowing down behind the counter). You will also see the hot water being thrown toward Grayson. The hot water then hits the floor and steam comes off the kitchen floor. You cannot see this from the partner’s body cam, which was the only perspective released in the first few days of the incident. The actual video from the body of shooter Grayson debunks many narratives and opinions that are solely based on one physical view. It is not true that Grayson’s body camera was turned off. This was a lie told to push a narrative that he was not following policy. His body camera video is available if you look for it. Hot water at 200 degrees can do 2nd degree skin damage. Al Green had the same thrown at him by an ex girlfriend which resulted in significant skin damage and his ex girlfriend being shot shortly thereafter the incident. Do not underestimate 200 degree water and its effects on human skin.

Brother the handwriting is on the wall. Every time police make a stop 3 to 5 cameras are on them because no one trust them anymore and they don't see the role the unions (brotherhood) have played in this lose of confidence. Backing a monster regardless. The Sheriff sad she called for help and we failed her. You really failed the whole community by hiring a 3,4,5, times fired individual.

Sonya's tone seems fine to me..his seems a bit short....he escalated this incident with his own demeanor and baseless assumptions about her mental state....Did anyone else hear him ask her if she was okay mentally? Why ask that? I would be offended too because that's unnecessary....that is probably what prompted the "I rebuke you" comment.....I can't know for certain but probably..... It could have also been that she was offended because they acted like she was going to throw the hot water on them when she never made any such gesture to do that.....Saying, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus is a way to say I reject your unfair cruel behavior toward me.....meaning his insinuations of her mental state and then acting as if she was going to harm him for no reason......He seems to be impulsive, have a bad temper, and very little patience which aren't great characteristics for a cop to possess..... this entire situation was exacerbated by Deputy Grayson.....In my opinion he sounded very rude when he had to repeat, "Is there anything I can do for you?" She just misheard him why the attitude? It seems like this deputy came on the scene irritated and took it out on her.....

What an absolute Demon in the flesh! Ephesians 6:12, is the perfect scripture for what happened! The woman(Sonya) could obviously feel the demonic oppression of both the officers at the time. We are not fighting against flesh and blood, my friend's, especially in this day and age. If there's ever been a time in your life where you've felt the need to get right with the LORD, you better do it now. Tomorrow, could be too late!

Dammit this is why police firearms training is wrong. They need to be taught how to get out of the line of fire and assess whether the threat is real or not while moving. Static range training or standing and shooting is getting officers shot and make mistakes

Even still, if you watch the video you have here as the officer advances into the kitchen after the shots you can see the steaming water in the floor at the end of the counter. I’m still not accepting the fact that he shot her. But at the same time the system above the officers failed us all.
@Bighitter032 ай бұрын
@xforce708 you can accept it or not but he did shoot her and in her defense she was empty handed and only grabbed that pot after she knelt down and he advance putting her in a self defense situation the system didn't force this cop to shoot her he made that choice after he threatened her the only thing that failed everyone in this situation is his boss the one that highered him after he was arrested and fired 4 previous times

@@Bighitter03 you’re not in a self defense situation because a cop is pointing a gun at you. I’ve been in that situation before and the cops were in the wrong. But I didn’t do anything crazy, therefore I’m still alive. She stood up, grabbed the pot of water and threw the water at them. Bad move on her part, because yes he was a moron that should not have even had that badge but more people have to be held responsible here.
@Bighitter032 ай бұрын
@xforce708 by that's states law she was in a self defense situation because she had no lawful authority to draw his weapon in that state you can actually fight the cops in an unlawful arrest scenario which would not be the case in most states but not in this state. Technically even in those states that it's "illegal" to resist an unlawful arrest its still constitutionally protected to resist an unlawful arrest but good luck fighting the government on that one.

@xforce708 and she didn't throw nothing she dropped it after being shot in the head by a murderous government employee nothing in the video suggests she threw the water only that the water hit the ground behind the counter where no cop was so the only other person that should be held accountable is the other cop she did absolutely nothing wrong except allow the cops to come inside
