Here’s the tea.... I relate to sonya on a spiritual level cause my best friend/guy I am madly in love with is named Nikolai and he liked me for a bit but than dumped me but than liked me for a bit sooooooo..... I was shook when I watched this.

@@sarahshah7932 it may be a little late to answer, and I didn't see the show, but in the book Sonya broke her engagement with Nikolai, fully understanding that his parents will never allow such marriage as she was their ward without any heritage. Despite that, she still loved and deeply cared about Nikolai, staying with him for her whole life. Her loyalty to him grew to such extent that she rejected Dolokhov's proposal, even though being attracted to him and fully aware that he was the best match she, an orphan without social status and money, could find. And Nikolai doesn't feel the same way for her for quite a long time and even started to despise Sonya a little for the way she accepted her status as a "sterile flower" and was doing everything to help him (strange, yes) repay his family's debts. Then, Nikolai was encouraged and even forced to marry rich Princess Marya due to the catastrophic situation with his family finances. Eventually he grew to love Marya but from the beginning there were not a lot of tender feelings between them.
