This movie made me tear up. It’s the best. Lily was so strong through the whole movie when Ryle was abusing her. This is a good movie for moms or even for relationships that are hard rn. Good job

This movie was really really good. HOWEVER, be prepared to cry, especially more so if you’ve gone through/dealt with certain situations. My friend actually grabbed my hand when I started having a panic attack and didn’t let go. Just be ready for some serious triggers. (If you read the book, you know)

I read the book before and when I watched the trailer it affected me so much I just knew I had to go and face it. I warned my friend I might get triggered and he said „no worries, do whatever feels natural, I’m here“. I had 2 near panic attacks, had to breathe trough multiple times and started crying once. I 😊feel sorry for this actor who is the director of the film and holds the rights to adapt the book to the cinema. He shows the reality of the film and speaks out against domestic violence very accurately. Very disrespectful for this actress who wanted to take over his film. He talks about domestic violence, the main actress is more about selling the film like Barbie and selling the beverage products and hair products along with the film's premiere. And the book writer is selling nail polish and coloring books.

I haven't yet seen the movie, but just watching some shorts like this one has opened my eyes so much to what it must be like for those who are in these toxic relationships. I don't know if anyone will read this comment, and I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm going to leave it anyway. My big brother is in an abusive marriage. It's not physical violence as far as I know. However his wife is the closest thing I have ever known to an actual sociopath. She has always been difficult, and they have been together a little over 15 years. They didn't get married for a long time. Before they got married they were constantly breaking up and getting back together and my brother would leave whenever things got really bad. He didn't want to marry her but she wanted to get married so eventually he gave in. When they did finally get married he took his vows very seriously and decided to truly commit to her in a way he had not done before. Now 6 years later, my sweet gentle and easy-going favorite big brother has turned into someone who I don't even recognize. He is angry all the time, and even though we used to be best friends we don't even speak now. His wife has been cheating on him for 2 years. He lost a ton of weight because he was so sick about the situation, he cried himself to sleep every night for so long that eventually he actually lost his job. He begged her to stop because he loves her. At this point most of the people in my family have given up on the situation because they're tired of telling him to leave just for him to back to her every time. It took me seeing some of these videos talking about domestic violence to realize that if he were a woman he would be treated very differently. Nobody would be asking him why he was staying or why he keeps going back if he was a woman. The double standards are not fair.

He is trauma bonded to her. Your own mind works against you. It’s like kickn an addiction. He needs to see a trauma counselor. No one could make me leave either. Everyone has their last straw though. The moment ya realize~ This is never gona change. And at that point nothing can make ya stay anylonger, the fog has lifted & there’s no going back.! One has to change to survive it. Then once ya heal you change again, into someone who will NEVER go through that crap again...

I just finished the movie and have not read the book yet. The problem is that most people don't leave as quickly as Ryle did.... they fight for custody, not really caring about the child, just using him or her as a pawn to continue to lure in and torture the other person. Lilly was brave to not f*ck around. She told Ryle straight away that she wanted a divorce and confronted him with clear examples of every time he laid a hand on her. That was brave (especially with her daughter in his hands) and it would just be a miracle if it worked that way. I hope it does for some people. It is heart wrenching to leave, but it is possible. I did it. Also, what you can't do for yourself, you will do for your precious baby. I'd give my life for mine.

Wish you care a better person than Blake Lively! She’s truly hurt all of us who are victims of domestic violence. Instead of using this time & her platform to bring awareness and stop the stigma of those hanging on & drowning in this abuse, she’s making it all about herself & a romcom like it’s something light and fluffy, not serious, not important, but just money in her pocket. She ruined it!

This is all fascinating, because every colleen book I’ve read or heard about reads like she hates women. Every main woman has to bend over backwards to accommodate the trauma of the main man, and though this book ends on a different note, that ending even feels like a cop out for colleen to say “here, see! I don’t hate women cause she doesn’t continue to be abused!” Anyway, not a huge colleen fan.

I read half of the book, dropped it when I found out the ML(I forgot his name) became abusive, but the writing was decent so I looked at her other works. This woman is not trying to shed light on domestic abuse. She actively glorifies abuse and uses abuse as a “romantic” trope in most of her books. I personally find her disgusting, but you are entitled to your own opinions. Just form them after taking the due diligence to research her before praising her.
@manuelaarmando83674 ай бұрын
maybe you haven't understood, you have to see with the eyes of a person who finds himself in a life so often these people give more importance to love than to beatings.... my son spent three years with a person who manipulated him and he attacked and yet he didn't see these things in the same way we saw them from the outside....
@_Meretricious4 ай бұрын
@@manuelaarmando8367 You should search up reader’s summaries on her books. One of them includes the FL ending up with a guy who’s genuinely obsessed with her and burnt down her house if I remember correctly. Capturing abuse is about capturing the feelings the victim has, the denial, the confirmation bias, the self conversations that illustrate how complicated abuse is. Most of Hoover’s books utilize abuse not as a plot device, but a trope (I changed my wording to better illustrate what I mean) and it’s disgusting. It Ends With Us is probably one of the only work of hers that doesn’t glorify abuse, so thankfully that’s the one that got adapted, but any other of her book butcher how abuse should be portrayed so I’d rather no one support such an author without the full knowledge.
