You can certainly tell that he and the two guys behind him are pros. I love this video, but I am uncomfortable with the fact that inmates were used...it seems very likely that they were "convinced" to take part by unethical means.......in other words, it seems like they were essentially used as slave labor to make this epic video. I hope I'm wrong.

Can you imagine teaching that many people to follow your instructions willingly, especially they are inmate that requires extra extra extra relationship to make them want to listen to you, let alone asking them to practise for things that they don't get anything out of besides maybe personal satisfaction. I feel so touched and goosebumps thinking about all the effort, practise, and building the routine and relationships behind this super awesome performance.

1. they were sentenced to prison not death and they are still human beings. 2. you dont know what they are in for. obviously the warden and guards felt they earned the privilege of participating in the program 3. privileges and programs help the prison keep control of the prisoners. If they have nothing to work toward earning that's when riots and behavior problems crop up. someone with absolutely nothing to lose has no leverage to hold onto.

The fact that they are good dancers does not make them better people. they committed a crime they must be paying not dancing. I have 6 months without dancing and I work every day and I am a good person. someone is proud of me ?? I could learn a rutine if i had they free time also
@Outspoken.Humanist
@Outspoken.Humanist 4 жыл бұрын
@@enelmartodoesfelicidad I totally agree. Dancing does not make them better people, nor does it mean they shouldn't pay for what they did. I did not suggest otherwise. But prison rarely rehabilitates people. It is more likely to lead people to more crime by associating with other criminals and making life hard after release. It can only be hoped that some of those dancers had a sense of pride that helped them to change. In your case. You claim you are a good person but you are in prison. I don't know you so have to believe what you say. if there is no-one who is proud of you, perhaps you can be resolved not to commit crime in future and be proud of yourself. Ultimately, we must all live up to our own standards and expectations, not those of others. I wish you well with the rest of your sentence. I hope it goes quickly, safely and easily and that, after release, you do nothing to take you back inside and that your life goes better than before. If you want someone to communicate with, perhaps a different perspective on things, or just a new voice, feel free to write again. i will answer you. Good luck

Every year I’ve binged Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 on KZbin. Once I saw them on the Carol Burnett show and she referred to them as brownies. My jaw absolutely dropped, because I had never heard that before, but it sounded incredibly demeaning, especially for oldest ones. MJ was forced to be an adult at six. I think he got a clear picture of human "categories," even internationally. My dad saw the Jackson 5 getting on a plane in Germany. I mean they went everywhere. Idk I think black people have always gotten it but not white people. I had an MJ poster on my wall in high school. It’s the only poster I ever had and oddly I didn’t know he was black. like I never realized it until I saw his family and hearing him talk about his life. Guess I’m saying that back then it often was that people didn’t know, not that they didn’t care.

I remember when this was televised. I was amazed by the dedication it must have taken…, let alone from a large group of inmates!! Try that in the USA…, they’re all too busy trying to kill each other to work together and do something that technically challenging and clean. The timing and coordination of ALL these inmates is almost as good as professionally trained dancers. VERY IMPRESSIVE TO THIS VERY DAY. It’s been about 15 years now since this video was made? Michaels been gone for the past 10 years or so, and this song rings more true today than when Michael released it. People thought he was crazy. I think he was privy to things that scared the bejesus out of him. Things he was told and given no choices in discussing. Things he was told to keep quiet about… or else, things that put fear into his heart for us all. This song was one way he tried to tell people what he knew, about his fear for the world. He was right. These inmates did a phenomenal job on the choreography for this song. I hope all those that participated in this video back then, remains proud of their hard work and dedication to making it very professional. It rings true to this day. And any inmate in a prison anywhere in the world can tell you that it hits even closer to home for all of them. They should remain proud for their amazing work on this video!! JUST BEAUTIFULLY DONE! Some very talented people in that Indonesian prison!👍🏻

Plus it keeps them busy, healthy, burns off excess energy, gives them something to look forward to, something to feel proud of. And for a son or daughter, being able to watch something like this, could be a treasure, even if they can't see their dad, they would know he is in there and they could have a reason to replace a little shame or anger with pride.

Outstanding!! 👍👍🏅🔖God Bless to you All. Michael would be so touched by this performance. 1. They are inmates. 2. Unbelievably Talented. 3. Precise timing & all in sync. {This was one of Michael's conditions & passion to be totally as one when performing}. 4. The ending was absolutely amazing!! Loved it. 💕💞

Its interesting how Michael Jackson's music has been successfully applied to different prisons, in different countries, to create a level of high moral and personal fitness & health. His music and messages have always been positive; and for some reason he resonates with a broad spectrum of the prison population... and outside of prisons, too. As an observation, it appears to be a very good sign of how most people share some fundamental values... and positive values, at that.

@@woutmotmans6240 An interesting fact, which you're obviously not aware of, is that prisoners who commit crimes against children never live very long behind bars. The rest of the inmates don't take too kindly to child molesters. It might have something to do with how many of the inmates were victims of it, themselves. Regardless, you're 100% incorrect.
