i loved how Lea comforted Shaun not with words but in complete silence and holding on tight. Shaun didn't need anyone to tell him how to feel right then. Just unconditional support.

Shaun's mother wasn't as bad as Shaun's father was, but she wasn't a good mom because she prefered her evil husband instead of her sons (even if she said that it is not true when Shaun asked her). If she had supported Shaun and had got divorced from Ethan, Steve wouldn't have died.

An apology, an apology. Mate your kidding me. How long has Shaun waited to hear them words. All those years of trying to understand his dad. Was it a waste. Most likely but it hurts like hell. With someone like them people of zero understanding. I wouldn't be surprised on what they turn out to be. It makes me wonder how others grow with him and not those who understood him during his childhood.

Because despite his father being a monster. Some people like myself wish our parents could've been who we needed, so we mourn it whether or not they are alive or dead. Also, being overwhelmed with the situation and feeling PTSD triggers and emotional flashbacks tend to mess with survivors a lot. I hope this helped.
