I generaly reverse into a parking spot, as its easier to just drive out and you can see whats in the way easier.

Yeah, but does it take you 5 or 6 times backing in to get it right? Lol ❤
@GarNelson12 күн бұрын
I do, too. I have a better view of any cross traffic while I'm backing in and a better view of cross traffic when pulling out. It's a lot easier to park head-in, and I feel it is safer for me to back in.

I've always backed in to a space, so it's easier and safer when pulling out, especially in Thailand when scooters are coming at you from every direction. I must say that a lot of Thais seem ok at this, although there are those who are not 😅

Just watched your latest vid re: drivers license renewal. I hear you regarding Toyota Cars and trucks. Would you feel the same about Honda in terms of built to last and availability of after market parts etcin Thailand?I’ve never owned a Toyota vehicle I have owned Hondas. Just wondering. Keep up good work!
@dazdragon44517 сағат бұрын
Yes, But Honda doesn't have all the trucks & SUVs like Toyota. In Thailand it's good to have an SUV or truck for 1....because of the roads.....and 2...The amount of water that's on the road when it rains,flooding is not uncommon.

@ Great advice. So more Toyota options for bigger Vehicles. Got you. Thanks D 🐉

There's not really any Honda trucks here and I prefer something like that or an SUV

Fun nonstandard questions…my in-laws are Khmer (they live with us like your situation) and in my newly built house in Phnom Penh we have two kitchens, one indoors with plenty of room similar to yours and an outdoor one, we also have a proper dining room with a large table. Prepping food is always done outside on a mat on the floor (good idea to use a krok on the floor instead of cracking granite counters) while eating meals by most family members is also on the floor but inside the western kitchen even though we have a dining room with a large table, and finally naps are taken by the in-laws on the western kitchen floor during the afternoon hours. My western kitchen is only used by me for cooking while it serves many other purposes for my family😂. We rarely, as a family, eat meals together, it’s fun to watch, one group on the floor and another (usually younger) group at the table. Our kitchen floors are extremely clean. It will never change. If we have friends and extended family over, out come the mats placed on the garage floor in front of the house for meals, drinks, and socializing and everyone enjoys themselves, including me, but I sit on a folding camping chair 555

A car is more maneuverable into a tight space in reverse (despite Thais, the world's worst drivers, making it look quite the opposite!) and your vision is better when driving forward out of the space. In the UK it's illegal to reverse out onto a main road, so we're taught/learn right from early days to reverse onto driveways and into parking spaces. I soon noticed when I first travelled to the States that (a) parking spaces are so much larger than the UK, and (b) the roads so much wider... all that space makes it much easier to just drive into a space. Drive into a space in Thailand or the UK, and you'll almost never get into it squarely, and will need to shuffle backwards and forwards a few times to straighten up. (Plenty of people in the UK still can't park though! 🤣🤣🤣🤣)

Thx for the video...2 years in Laos and still getting used to the flies (and ants) inside the house on occasion. Regarding the cultural differences, I think at some point it's best just not to worry and bother asking questions, "why?" I ask my wife and she turns to me and says, "I don't know I've lived in the US the last 20 years, why do you think?" 🤔. By the way, nice Tito's banner on the wall!

Hey Chuck, yeah, good answer. It is very entertaining for the most part. There was this one lady that must have tried to get into this one parking spot 8 times and finally gave up. Then she went to another spot where there were 4 parking stalls. After 4 attempts she was happy with what she had done and went into the store. I walked over after she had gone into the store and took a look at what she had done. Surprisingly, she was only in 3 parking spots. She had parked on an angle, and her front was in the stall on the right, and the back was in the stall to the left. I will admit, that most of the car was in the stall she was trying to get into. Lol ❤

You ever wonder why they park front end first at the family mart? I get a kick at looking at all the banged up rear hatches in japan. Some people just aren't good at backing in to tight spaces. I used to be a bodyman and the most expensive part of the car to repair is the front end like the a/c, radiator and headlights and a lot of accidents happen in parking lots. so i always park front end first to protect it. Also at costco i see people fighting to open their rear hatch to load their cars up. Its especially hard to load up when 2 people are trying to load at the same time.

We actually bought an international SIM card at the airport. But you can get any SIM card and add roaming to the SIM card very easily online. We don't use our international card anymore we just add roaming data to our service we have when we travel abroad. The SIM card is basically data only if you want to receive calls it's still very expensive. I suggest getting a Google voice phone number, or use Face book messenger, Line app, or WhatsApp to make calls internationally free, you can Google that to see what it's about.

Due to my age and pre existing conditions I can’t purchase a health insurance policy to cover me in Thailand. That said, I have heard that if one has a Medicare Advantage plan from a third party insurer, you can be reimbursed after the fact for major medical events, like heart attacks, etc. Basically one actually self insures and pays for health care to the Thai hospital, but can eventually be reimbursed.

Thus, you still need to have enough cash reserves to cover serious health events.
