The population itself must vote for a speaker whereby as a democracy we are the ones who decides who enters the House and this must include the Speaker itself. There is no point in the population voting for candidates to enter the House only to be utterly and completely disregarded by a Speaker on his/her own whim and feelings. Furthermore, members of the House should not vote for a Speaker themselves whereby the population should expect members of the House to work under the conditions set by the population themselves. This is akin to functioning/working in a professional setting whereby the staff do not get to choose their superiors; especially in a setting (parliament) where life-changing policies are discussed/debated and scrutinized.
