Even after a basically 2 hour performance, the 24th caprice is still one of the most artistically musical interpretations I've heard in a while. This man is a god.

I honestly have never associated this set of Caprices with the notion of grace and poetry. Until now, that is. What an absolutely stunning and breathtaking performance, and what a privilege it is to hear it. Please accept my utmost gratitude.

He performs with such effortless grace, yet each of those caprices poses an immense challenge. The feat of not only learning but also mastering them all, both on stage and in front of a camera, at such a high level of skill, is staggeringly difficult!

I'm only 30 seconds in and already so impressed by the musicality and sensitivity in the maestro's playing and whole approach. Caprice No. 1 is marked 'Andante', which is a guide to the essence of the piece. This is the first time I can remember hearing it played this way, so elegant, refined and calm, and not sounding 'presto'. It's also much more difficult to play at the speed.... nowhere to hide, every demi-semi-quaver counting! Thank you very much; this is a treat

It's amazing how he manages to make such beautiful music out of the caprices. They are just so insanely hard that it's rare that they are ever performes as anything other than displays of technical skill. The original bowing in pag 5 was particularly incredible. Well deserved applause after that!

Wonderful performance and accomplishment. Perfect technique and music making with it. Interesting to know that Heifetz told to his students not to wear eye glasses when you perform by heart. And he doesn't use shoulder rest. I like that.

Ok. It's a huge challenge playing all 24 in a row. But let's be serious ok? Intonation is bad, sound is to much forced, lack of memory everyone have but if this happens just go forward and do not stop for an eternity. That's what professionals do. I can give a discount on a student but not to a former Paganini violin competition and first prize also? And teacher at Yale? This was a great live general rehearsal for the big one concert. I think it's presumptuous publish it at this point. Once someone asked to David Oistrakh already with a renowned career, why he didn't recorded all Bach Sonatas and Partitas. He said: I'm not ready yet.

As an Original 1 of 7 Jascha Heifetz Violin Master Class artist pupil's, I would like to know who stated Mr. Heifetz "told his students not to wear eye glasses when you perform by heart." I knew my my mentor, Jascha Heifetz, for 25 Years, never hearing JH say/use 'not wear eye glasses when you perform by heart' just for the Record! Forming a Group of we JH-7 in Los Angeles who were quite close to Mr. Heifetz and including close friend, wondrous Pianist, Gerald Robbins, JH Pianist for Five Years, Full phrase quoted by @user-op6vy3gg2b above, was not present in Mr. Heifetz's vocabulary in describing music much of the time yet Mr. 'H' does ask me at a tale end of my JH Violin Master Class - Khachaturian, JH-7, Elisabeth Matesky {Russian vers. Library of Master Performers} Film in the JH VMC Series on KZbin + other sites globally, at the very closing of our film when Heifetz turns to me putting away my violin asking re my Aram Khachaturian Violin Concerto 1st Mvt performance, "Liz, do you play the 2nd Movement by heart?" So JH did, on occasion and in our film with camera's rolling, use part of term!! Yet we rarely heard JH speak this term in 'normal class' {direct quote of Mr. Heifetz referring to our twice weekly 6 hours per day classes ~} Sending best wishes to the Respondent just above! Elisabeth {aka JH nicknamed 'Liz'} Matesky 28.6.24

This is like saying you only want to see the marathon runner trying to dash 100 meters, ridiculous! Amazing even just to attempt to memorize and play all notes! To put it in perspective, there would be thousands of players who can play a few! But gaurantee only less than 0.1 % of them who dare to stand up playing all from memory!🥵🥵

I have never experienced being led to KZbin to Only Watch People coming in to a Concert Hall with No public performance having yet started after now near 14 minutes of rude to any audience Wait? Why this is happening is beyond one's comprehension, but neither my Icon Violinist Mentor's, Jascha Heifetz or Nathan Milstein, would keep any & I mean Any Audience waiting for up to now 20 minutes -coming here late at night to try to Wait for the Visiting Violinist in Practice of Teaching come onto the Stage but only a person carrying One Chair entered?? No performance is worth this sort of rudeness. I can Not Wait any longer. Obviously an element of 'less' is present & not attractive nor is it indicative of Excellence or Artistry. Strongly Suggest Courtesy to an Audience from both Yale School of Music where my Jascha Heifetz Violin Master Class Classmate, Erick Friedman, Violin Professor taught, who would Never exhibit Lack Of making an audience & on KZbin Wait So Long. Refinement does not equal discourtesy! 'Nite' Nite ~ Elisabeth Matesky, Original Artist Pupil of Jascha Heifetz - 7 in 1st Violin Master Class at USC's Institute for Special Music Studies which was subsequently filmed, premiering on Then National Educational Television and Sold on VHS; & with advent of technology on DVD, and Finally, on KZbin in Spring 2011 ... Hearing a bit of the 1st Caprice of Paganini's Rapid Allegro, I detect faulty Intonation w/lack of musical 'interpretation' that Is Waiting to be Heard in There, Folks!!! Try Nathan Milstein for Paganini Caprices or his adapted/composed "Paganinianna", which NM gave me ongoing sketches w/other additions & changes to his spectacular solo violin virtuoso yet lyrical near Mozartian harmonies throughout even the most 'digital' passagework in the 1st Caprice of Paganini from which Mr. Milstein welcomed+ transformed into what Solo Violinists Try: Milstein's "Paganinianna"! Also Private "Guinea Pig Heifetz Pupil" quote Nathan Milstein, re his view of yours truly having listened to my Chaconne of Bach at his London Chester Square home, circa April of 1969 and for 3.5 years twice weekly for minimum of 4 Hrs each 'tutorial', I do think the young Violinist needs work on his intonation & a sense of artistic aspects re the 1st Caprice ...*Vibrato will help one with Iffy pitch intonation yet best to tighten up root intonation of each note then clusters of notes First prior to a public performance ... Keep Going, Soovin Kim! {btw, your prestissimo tempo in the 5th Caprice is crazy too fast to hear!} As from ~ Elisabeth Matesky, Carrier of the Heifetz-Milstein Legacy of Violin Mentoring ~ Ref: Google me and on FB with Link: facebook.com/elisabeth.anne.775?fref=nf {Top Photo: The White House: Potus Carter & Guest, French Premier, Raymond Barre, standing together following Finale of EM Violin Recital in Ysaye's Third Solo Violin Sonate in D, "Ballade", after Potus Carter's Mozart Sonata request w/French PM 'Thrilled' a US violinist would offer his father, Barre Snr's personal friend, GOAT Franco-Belgian Violinist/Composer, Ysaye's "Ballade" w/ Potus Carter Thank You Letter, much hand written, signed, 'Jimmy', September 16, 1977 ~ *A Word Soovin Kim ~ When playing in awkward key signature's try to play #'s a bit lower & b's deeply in the root of the note! Will Help! EM Posting ~ 30th of December, Anno 2 0 2 3 **I must caution Mr. Kim, to listen to Fritz Kreisler to offer # 20, aka, the 'Fritz Kreisler'-like Caprice of Paganini ... RX a long time of listening to Kreisler charm and absorb its Charm fully ...

@elisabethmatesky7855 this is the single most bizarre comment i have ever seen under a classical music performance 😭 1. clearly they started streaming 20 min before the concert, that is really no different than the typical experience of showing up to a concert early and waiting, so no need to rant about it :) 2. you have literally impossible standards. go ahead, show me another performance of ALL 24 caprices in one night with perfect intonation. it literally does not exist. there have only been a handful of these concerts ever done, and frankly this one is better than many of the others 3. the fact that you were a student of heifetz and friends with milstein, or that he liked your chaccone, is wonderful but completely irrelevant to this performance lol 4. to nitpick a nearly 2 hour marathon performance of some of the most difficult pieces ever written by themselves, let alone all in a set, is insane. go ahead, upload your own unedited LIVE performance of all 24 caprices with perfect intonation and musical intention. if you do, it would be the single most impressive performance in violin history. until then, this is probably as close as it gets :)
