I was reading an article the other day about rehomed dogs from Romania.. apparently alot come over carrying "brucellosis" which is not tested by the charities.. it can be fatal for your dog and can be passed on through just contact with other dogs! I hope this doesn't offend anyone its just that the advice from vets is to get your dog tested for it if it is brought over from another country to be on the safe side 😊 amazing to see people adopting 🙌

@@redrumax theres always one 🙄 I wasn't saying every dog that comes over has it.. as I said I just read an article so its worth asking your vet which I dont see any harm in.. i'm not a vet so I can only go off what I've read but I seen a local dog rescue put a post out about having to put a dog to sleep because of it and thought it could be helpful to someone who has just adopted.. hopefully it doesn't discourage people adopting in the future as its more responsible than buying from puppy farms 👍 have a nice day 👍

As someone who rescues from Romania myself, this is amazing to see. I run a group called The Rescue Company on Facebook and we try to help many dogs in Romania and other places! We campaign to spay these dogs and find fosters for them to give them better living conditions. It’s very hard sometimes as I’ve seen numerous horrific things that these dogs have to face but someone of your platform helping them and encouraging people to help is truly amazing. I had two Romanian rescues. One sadly passed away earlier this year but the other is still with me and is the most affectionate dog you could meet. I would 100% recommend feeding your dog chappie wet and dry food as it’s natural and easy on the tummy. Other dog food can be very rich and cause bloody diarrhoea. She’s beautiful! I have lots of knowledge on rescue dogs etc and good charities to adopt via if anyone is ever interested! Thank you for adopting 🥰

I’m not kidding, I paused this video after you said to her “we’re going to give you the best life”. I burst into tears, and ran to my partner. We adopted a rabbit, our little girl Kira, back in 2018. She was so badly abused and neglected, and I remember telling her that exact same thing. I’ve been crying for like 15 minutes, and my face is all puffy. You’ll be the best parents to her (and yes, you can be a parent to a child that isn’t human), and she’ll know that over time. Thank you for giving her a new start! A few months later he’s gained weight & just so happy. He was already so happy to live with us. Generally so happy with my poochy. Couldn’t recommend rescuing enough!! Also, we used rainwrights dog food for him which helped his stomach when he came to us. Now he’s on solid dog biscuits. Barf (natural food) is awesome! You can find it in freezers of some pet shops or just Google for a good webshop that sends it as most shops don't. If she likes it -and if you want to feed it- prey animals are great as well as they get a lot more organs and bone from those. They're also mixed into the freezer rolls (Berfmenu, lotgering, Tammenga, Kobo are the main brands i think) to some extent, but not really enough. There are several weekmenu's available online though!

We rescued a dog from Romania 7 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did! She was about 1-2 years when we got her. We have had some issues with her because she needed surgery on her back legs quite soon after getting her but it’s made the world of difference. She is a nervous dog around people, dogs and moving lights. But miles better from when we got her In terms of food we feed grain free (mainly because of our other dog who has to be fed grain-feed) and we just feed dry mostly. I think the main thing to look out for is to just get her insured and then take her to the vets and get her checked out. Just to make sure there aren’t any issues from malnutrition, because even though rescue centres in Romania try their best they just have so many dogs to look after. Our rescue is now an older lady who is starting to slow down a little bit she is still the sweetest thing who would loves lying on the sofa with us

Vet nurse here 🙋♀️ food wise, I’d recommend Hills, Royal Canin or Purina Pro Plan. They have life stage diets (puppy, adolescent, adult etc) as well as prescription diets if Pinky ever needed this in the future. They are nutritionally balanced and developed my veterinary experts, and are very good quality foods! It can sometimes be a bit of trial and error finding what each individual dog prefers and what agrees with them. Always make sure any diet change is gradual (over a week or two ideally) to minimize risk of stomach upsets. There’s no reason that you can’t mix in some natural food/ meat with kibble as long as the calories are balanced. I’m sure you’ve already done lots of research, you seem really well prepared for your pooch! In terms of training, lots of positive reinforcement (and patience) is best! Clicker training is also really good if she’s showing signs of wanting to work for her reward. She’s such a cutie and looks like she’s definitely landed on her feet 🥰

I’m so glad your rescuing/rehoming because I always believe (just my opinion) it better and you always see influencers buying dogs when There are so many that are just as good and need homes!

Some tips after getting our Border Collie during the first lockdown!! All dry, wet and raw food are good for them. If choosing dry food PLEASE avoid commercial brands recommended by vets are normally are sponsored and actually have bad ingredients such as grains which dogs shouldn’t even eat in the first place as their natural diet would be meat/vegetables. Good dry food brand are Skinners Field & Trial, and as a personalised subscription Tails is great as well. If you feed a mixed diet of dry & wet food, feed one in the morning and the other at night, if mixed it can really hurt their stomach as natural food has a fast digestion time and energy burns quick, whereas dry food can take 8-10h to get through their system. If going for a raw BARF diet I definitely recommend studying on the matter and getting from a subscription company they deliver to your house and stuff ☺️ Also natural chews are THE way 😛 avoid rawhide as its very bad for them and can cause issues down the line. And obviously if feeding raw, feed only raw bones, not cooked ones as those will splinter, always making sure the dog knows how to chew and supervising them 🥰

We got our little doggo in May who came from Romania and she was 6 months when she came to us! She is the cutest little angel and is so special. I think we MIGHT have got them from the same charity as they bus was called the happy bus and the two men driving the bus kept us in contact with us the whole drive over. I’m super glad you managed to get a little rescue pup ❤️

So cool that you adopted a dog with an association! She really seems to enjoy his new home 😉 I traveled in Romania for my studies (i did french teaching there) and i saw so many dogs out in the streets.... It was so painful for me who love animals and it's a good things that association like that exist to take care of this poor dogs 😊😘

So happy you got a rescue dog and are recommending adopting them. We have bought 3 yorkies as puppies over the years and adopted our 4th yorkie last year. We had always decided 3 was enough but someone approached us, knowing we had 3 yorkies and that they had one at their shelter who would fit perfectly into our lives. We're so glad we decided to and she really does complete our little yorkie family and now will always adopt in the future. They are a bit more difficult but it is so so worth it seeing them come out of their shell and becoming more confident settling in to their forever home🥰🥰

Soph she is so cute!! Please do some research into feeding and always take into account a veterinarians advice, there is a lot of misinformation on the internet. Also I would recommend getting decent pet insurance too :) I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse if you need any advice! 💕 x

Aw congratulations! Both our dogs are rescue staffies. Rescues are just the best so full of love you will have the best life with her ❤️ EDIT - Hunters dry food mixed with Forthglade wet food is a great combo for feeding her x

Hey Soph, if you’re wondering about what dog food to get, this website is really useful for telling you about the nutritional content of the food www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/the-dog-food-directory Originally I stuck to the dog food the rescue centre gave my dog, but my dog trainer recommended trying a better quality one without as many unnatural ingredients (so help her calm down a bit 😂). My dog really likes the new “millies wolfheart” food - it’s a bit more pricey, but much better for her in the long run.

Congratulations she is adorable! For dog food I definitely recommend Butternut Box. My mum gives her dog this food and she suffers with having a bad tummy often but the food is so good for her. You get a month's worth of food delivered to go in your freezer and it's all proper food! Enjoy your lovely dog xxx

I have a husky cross with an Alaskan malamute and he’s on a raw diet, so we get raw mince delivered to the house which we keep in the freezer from this dog food lady and then we boil and mash veg that he can have e.g. sweet potato, carrot, broccoli. We just googled and spoke to the vets about quantities of each. Hope that helps with pinky’s food! She’s adorable🥰
