@@chava5074 it's not an easy book to read, but the author intended to portray the world of her country as she sees it, including all the violence and the issues evident in Mexico's daily life, especially in its rural settings. I think such harsh imagery that you've mentioned is necessary to construct the reality of the story and it works in its context. worked for me as a reader at least
