The track before on the album, Pretending, is a drone-like track, it is a slow progression, it feels soulless. It’s representing how she felt before she came out as trans: life was boring, robotic, slow motion, lifeless. And then it bursts into Immaterial, where gender is non-existent and where she really can “be anything I want” and is the happiest she can be. This album is beautiful.
