I have not been able to come to terms with this at all. I never really have a reaction like this to a celebrity, but her music was so formative for me and is literally just revolutionary and her death was so sudden and such a freak accident. I don’t know when I’ll be able to accept it. She seemed like such a kind and wonderful person on top of all that and all she wanted was to look at the moon.

Trans people should just suck it up and accept the fact that not everyone is going to be able to apply the rules they demand others to go by. They’re a minority after all. Before the current LGBTQXYZ wave, I remember that trans people were quite okay with that, as long as they themselves are comfortable with the choices that they made. Nowadays, it’s « respect me or you’re transphobic »

But, even as a person who doesn't even know Sophie, the loss of her genius is huge. What an incredible person taken waaaaay too soon. RIP angel. Even more, in interviews Sophie has said that people obsessing over gender and pronouns is counterproductive to the music being produced. Sophie had so many people in the comments of "It's Okay To Cry" talking only about gender that Sophie even explicitly said the outpour of "yasss queens" is harmful to the music. Sophie just want's people to listen to the music (and btw, hasn't even explicitly stated to go by feminine pronouns)
@RCmies
@RCmies 5 жыл бұрын
@@tommym7321 Yes exactly. When I was new to Sophie I was honestly put off by the people commenting all that weird gender shit, or like she's a saviour of Transgender people or some shit, like it had nothing to do with the music in my opinion. It made me feel like I'm not able to enjoy music like this, as a masculine heterosexual man... But I think her music can be enjoyed and interpreted by anyone and that's the beauty of it. Her message is not ''transgender people will take over the world''. Her message is ''Be whoever you want to be''. That's how I interpret it anyway. Now I actually don't care about it that much because I understand most of it doesn't mean anything but some of the comments do though.
@tommym7321
@tommym7321 5 жыл бұрын
@@RCmies I understand what you mean, and I'm glad Sophie commented on it too. The people who obsess over this stuff aren't fans, at least not really. Someone so concerned with an interviewer "misgendering" Sophie (who hasn't even publicly stated preferred pronouns) is the same kind of person to like ANY trans artist/person just because they're trans. I've liked Sophie since before the Boiler Room sets. I liked Sophie before Sophie even showed his/her face publicly, because I've always genuinely liked the music. Being an activist doesn't mean you're a fan and it doesn't even mean you have the best interest of the person you're "fighting" for in mind. Sophie has spoken out against the people who are the most vocal about transgenderism. What would make any person believe Sophie would want them doing the same thing to this interviewer?
