One of the best live performances of the guitar parts, your fingers during both solos don't lie. Note for note perfection.!

Your technique is so relaxed and such a pleasure. Beautiful work on the timing in/out of the solos. The subtle hammers/pulls in the chorus really give the chords dimension and flare. Well done!

For anyone learning how to play this song, here are a few things that I've picked up over the years that are subtle, but are going to help you get the feel and vibe of the original. In the intro, Dave Murray is using all downstrokes (which can be seen in the "The Number of the Beast" video). He also has some sort of effect on the intro, which is either a flanger or a Phase 90. Since I know he is a big user of the Phase 90, it's probably a Phase 90 on a slow setting. Similarly, the verses are also all downstrokes with lots of palm muting of the root notes in each power chord, which has more energy than simple strumming or alternate picking. In the section where the chords are D, F, G, A#, C, the F and G are major chords but played without a bar ( basically, the same as a barre chord, but with the index finger playing only the first two strings, and with the thumb wrapped around the neck). And lastly, the D and C chords where Bruce does the big scream in the beginning are some kind of combination chords where more than just the three power chord strings ring out.The sound on the original recording sounds a bit accordion like, which is due to a slight chorusing effect due to the fact that each guitar was double tracked (each performance was recorded twice). To me, it sounds like Martin Birch panned the second performance to the opposite side for each guitarist. The same overall sound could be achieved with a little bit of chorus in the chain, but it has to be very, very minimal, to mimic the sound of two very tight performances, but without sounding chorus-ey, if that makes sense.

Thank you for this cover! This inspired me to try to play it myself using alternate picking. I couldn't even get remotely near the original speed using all downstrokes. With alternate picking it works much better for me. Also it is a really nice excercise.

Most people down pick this intro I alternate pick like her because it is easier strumming but the timing is tricky .
