This film is the perfect example as to why not only the Minions, but the Despicable Me franchise as a whole is so successful. These yellow Minions are tremendously marketable characters that children can understand and laugh at across all language barriers. I remember that Minions stuff were everywhere around the time this film came out, like everywhere you go, the Minions are there. No wonder why this film made over $1.1 billion worldwide.

I love this movie. Kevin being a leader, also becomes a big brother looking after baby Bob and teenager Stuart. Each minion is unique and has a personality that best personifies them for who they are. The movie is wholesome and despite being comic relief, Minions prove that they can hold their own movie with their unique traits and looking out for one another.

This movie is my guilty pleasure. It's nonsensical and silly, but I just love the relationship between Kevin, Bob, and Stuart. Scarlett Overkill too is such a charismatic villain too. The movie is honestly so charming, I feel like people didn't give it a chance because they were tired of minions and the movie didn't have Gru in it until the ending.

I showed my mom this movie even though she can't stand the Minions. But she loved the 60s references (she was born in 67) and I showed her the sequel because the 70s references and she grew up in the 70s. But her favorite scene is when they started doing a Minions cover of her favorite song, "Hair" from her favorite musical/movie, "Hair" (she had a crush on Treat Williams).....she busted out laughing. She hates the Minions but she loves the movies.

Despicable Me was one franchise but the minions is another franchise telling the minion story of how they met Gru. Watching the minions story was great but they have now a sequel to the minions which is minions the rise of Gru, this movie is a highly recommended movie and funny family friendly and will make you laugh!!!

The only thing I knew from this movie since I was a kid before I saw the whole thing itself is the giant Kevin, that’s all I knew, but didn’t know it was from the prequel back then, I just knew that there was a giant Kevin at some point lmao. 😂 edit: I didn’t even see the full movies yet I just knew certain parts that I’ve seen online, many years later I discovered reaction channels exist, including movie reaction ones lol.
