@DanishVlog6 жыл бұрын
LauraLemurex ASMR you’re very right, but sometimes the people being interviewed/content creators are enforcing this by calling ASMR “eargasms” or comparing tingles to orgasms. Cause they’re not and obviously orgasms are usually connected to sex. As one of the very first to make videos together with whisperinglife back in 2009, I’ve ALWAYS hated the use of the word eargasms because and the sexualisation of ASMR and it is a big reason, that I backed out of the community when I did. Now to avoid misunderstanding - your channel and Sophie’s channel have never contributed to either of those misunderstandings 💛 (love the content on both your channels!)

Sophie, you are awesome. And I agree with all you said. I'm a male in my late 20s' and watch mainly female ASMRtists (with some exceptions), yet my reasons are not at all sexual. So much of ASMR is about trust and comfort, and I feel more comfortable around women than men. Motherly caring energies are so nice to me. So that has a lot to do with it.
@jacoboniaasmr55766 жыл бұрын
I watch a mix of men and women ASMRtists--I completely agree about the motivations. Some of my closest friends growing up were girls, and I've always loved, like you said, the "energies" of both men and women in my life. They fill you in different ways. I just got a massage for the first time today, and I think ASMR is a lot like that: intimate, but not in an unprofessional or creepy way. It's just relaxing. ASMR is about the sounds, and sometimes it's also about connection. Real, healthy, human connection. We NEED that.
@Rosenaification6 жыл бұрын
I watch ASMR to fall asleep because I have troubles sleeping quite often so instead of having a TV on loud (due to my tinnitus so I want sounds to bury the beeping) or a video on loud, ASMR helps me cover the sounds, relax and not wake me up in the middle of it.

There is sooooo much out there on KZbin and other places that could provide a much bigger area and a broader content for that type of.....interest...????? Lol.
@Synthmilk6 жыл бұрын
@@cindykincade589 it can be both, as someone else pointed out, like massage. ASMR triggers can easily overlap with sexual triggers, since what arouses people can be highly diverse as well, especially when you get into personal attention or close/intimate things like whispering or ear/face touching. Inherently sexual things can also be relaxing or cause ASMR, so really there is no strict line between ASMR and things that are sexual.

I found out about ASMR as a senior in high school and having had problems seemingly my whole life with getting enough hours of sleep to function well, it was the perfect remedy. Before, I'd be so wound up, I'd lay in bed rolling around for hours before I drifted off but with ASMR, it only takes 1, 30 minute video and I am *OUT.* I've literally been watching a video every night for the past 3 years and I can't even reliably fall asleep without it. Now, I personally don't have a problem with the public stigma and over-sexualization of the genre but it is very important for "outsiders" to distinguish intent when looking at it's recent spike in popularity. In general, it's just better to be informed than not. But, like with anything new and unfamiliar, you're gonna have die hard opposers and haters that want to believe there is ALWAYS some subliminal agenda at play. And that's fine. On another note, if you personally don't experience ASMR and find that these sounds don't trigger you in a positive way, there is such a thing as "negative ASMR" (as I like to call it) too. It's called misophonia. There are certain ASMR triggers that make me uncomfortable. Those ear eating videos, especially ones with obnoxious and wet lip sounds are my "negative trigger." And I think if more people had the courage to look beyond the surface level of things, like ASMR, they might realize that they'd actually like what they find. Or, at the very least, they might open their minds a little and recognize that it's not as bad as they once originally thought it was.

The issue is autonomous sensory meridian response is exactly that, a response which means it's entirely subjective. Anything that is subjective will always have a diversity of views and controversies. That said sexual ASMR is not inherently bad, if a person receives said response it has served its purpose even if not originally designed for provoking this response. This does also mean given some people find a sexual approach relaxing people will exploit this and whether it is wrong or fine, again is subjective whether you agree or disagree. I do agree it is rather questionable for a youtuber specifically to use such tactics given if someone wanted a sexual content there are pornographic websites to get that response if that's what your looking for but the way I see it, it's entirely up to the viewer to decide if that content suits them or not.

Hello Sophie. You are the only asmr channel I watch because you seem to genuinely believe that what you do is based on helping people to relax, calm down and de stress. Another reason that I watch you is because your channel isn't sexualised as I think those that are miss the point of asmr completely. I'm probably one of your older viewers and watch because what you do helps me to relax during periods of extreme anxiety and depression. I had a serious accident some years ago that has left me with a lot of residual pain which is getting worse the older I get. One thing that I tell people in order to help them understand ASMR is that it’s art. Art’s purpose is to evoke emotion. ASMR creates feelings of calmness. Music is also art. So is painting (Bob Ross reference here 😏). Art makes you feel something. What people need to do is honestly stop being hypocrites. They bash ASMR for being purely sexual (most of it isn’t) but then go listen to music that actually is. Some music is sexual and some is not, some ASMR is sexual and some is not. They are both art, so why is one accepted more than the other? Because touching someone’s face is an uncomfortable concept for some, just like Elvis Priestley’s hip swinging moves back when he became famous. He was actually boycotted for doing it back then. Also, I believe Frivolous Fox (love, love, love her content 😏) created literal ear eating and ear licking for the most part, and she often lets people know very clearly that it is NOT intended as sexual. So yeah I agree it just depends on ones intentions. I also kind of like to envision ASMR as identified into classified categories. Like using all five senses to experience objects put in one category, then using all five senses in experiences with other people in another category and then roleplay videos in a third category, what do you think?
@VandergriftMoefies6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for being so honest in this video and to not ignore or to disprove that ASMR can't be sexual in anyway, ever. And the stuff when ASMRtists (mostly female) make a Ear licking video in some revealing outfit and freak out and actually surprised about getting sexual comments. I don't get why so many of you (people in the comments) have a problem with people finding ASMR Sexual?! Isn't it popailr these days to sexual express yourself (not that I'm a fan of that movement)? What is it to you that someone thinks ASMR is sexual?! You or the creator you like still gets the views and money. It's aperently bad to slutshame, but it's good to shame (mostly men) for thinking ASMR is hot?! That's extremely hypocritical. And let's be real, some ASMR videos are EXTREMELY similar to Fetish videos and some just are straight up softcore pron (even hardcore on Patreon). But you know what, that's not a problem. Again, what's it to you?

Sophie & Erin etc I feel represent the true embodiment of what ASMR is intended to be. Far too many young ladies exploit sexuality quite intentionally to boost & sustain viewings & equally subscribers! Sometimes overt sexuality is used to compensate for lack of talent & inspiration in video format. Well done to all those practicing true ASMR, you know who you are!

You did really well on the This Morning interview, Sophie! Both the presenters annoyed me with there questions, and Eamon seemed particularly rude and dismissive about it, but you remained so pleasant and open which I wouldn't have been able to do haha

I don't get any tingles but I love ASMR and it helps me out a lot. I am a programmer and listen to ASMR basically as white noise to help me relax and my productivity goes up.

I don’t get “tingles” from sound, but from touch. I watch a lot of ASMR videos to relax and help me sleep. That’s all.

Sensual is intimacy, its the feeling of warmth, relaxation, comforting, its feeling vulnerable but safe at the same time.. It's allowing not only others inside of your bubble to love you, but it's allowing you to love yourself as well. It's love, friendship, joy, and summer days, or breezy winds in front of a fireplace during silent winter nights. It's a truly beautiful experience that melts away stress, anxiety, and pains physically, mentally, and spiritually. It's about allowing yourself to feel closer with the world around you. Sensual is what ASMR is, sexual is a completely different thing all together.... but people these days have forgot what sensual means. People will text each other from across the room, will spend more time on vacations trying to get likes on twitter, facebook, instagram, by uploading media of what they're doing, than actually living it. ASMR is the epiphany the people deserve, but not the one it needs right now. Maybe one day soon, if we're lucky, people will once again understand what the words Sensual mean, and not easily confuse it with sexual, because it's a closeness they couldn't fathom without it ending in "Happy endings," But, Happiness.

You know I've never thought of it that way. But you are right, it's "sensual" and not the "sexual" that some media attention wants to give it. It's so easy for the younger generation to get caught up in the "likes" and all that goes with that and they miss out on their "now". 💞

You should soooo start making more non asmr videos! I love your normal asmr vids & you’re one of my fave creators, I’ve never seen you in ‘non asmr form’, haha, but I love your personality in this vid and you just give me such a friendly, bubbly vibe & I think you’d be so good at making non asmr videos!☺️ LY!💗x

I'm sure to someone, somewhere, finds ASMR pleasing in a sexual way, but I don't think that makes for a majority of us. I have schizophrenia, and I use ASMR to drown out unwanted noises and voices with something more pleasant. I use music for this too, but what I'm looking to listen to can change with my mood. I just always needs something playing in or on my ears to distract me and ASMR fits the bill quite often.

I also think it's completely awesome the fact that you're looking out for other asmr creators- it's completely unfair that a creator might have to watch what they're wearing but I love your intentions!!!

I think we should simply accept human diversity, eroticism is part of us, there is no need to stigmatize it or us. Whatever connotation we give to the asmr, I think we should accept that it is part of a whole world, of all the diversity that exists.... So, you´re really awesome Shophie

I was over thinking and had trouble sleeping when I came across asmr, I listened to a lot of different asmr creators. I love facts videos and clever stuff. I've listened to all sorts from chill out stuff and freaky stuff to sexual stuff. I don't dig ear eating. I do enjoy asmr for comforting aspects and also to help relax my busy mind. Either way Sophie you do some brilliant videos and I enjoy your creativity.

ASMR is a type of content. A broad category of it. It all depends on the content and how the Artist intended it to be. If you do plan to make “risky” content make it clear to the viewers before they watch. But when it comes to children it’s a very slippery slope. For them that rule of “make something that you’re parents could see with no problem” applies here though and though but with adults it’s their responsibility to make an informed choice
