Sophos XG Software on XG Rev 2 Hardware......Take 1

With the Sophos XG Rev 2 hardware about to start appearing on the market a lot cheaper due to Sophos effectively giving it away with correct licensing I though I would see if you can load the Software version directly on Rev 2 hardware......and then reloaded my SG 310 with V18 MR4, Please Excuse the Video issues due to my recording pc having slight technical hitch

@@JimtheITguy been thinking about ditching untangle, and installing xg on my hpdl20 gen10 with 256gig ssd and 16gigs ram.

Its a bit overkill for a home XG as the license limits you to 2 cores and 6GB ram, its why the older hardware make alot of sense especially the XG/SG210 appliances

Hello Jim! As always great video. Do you know if it’s possible to install pfsense on a Sophos XG115?

In theory yes, they are just x86 based systems so there should be no problem.......but SFOS is better software IMHO

Spent 3 days trying tonget xg working on a new hp dl20 g10 with uefi and no luck at all :( might have to try and get a actually sophos 230 box i guess.

Change it from uefi to legacy/MBR mode

An SG105 is less suitable for XG/SFOS v18, as it has insufficient RAM to be able to run it properly

Pop the lid off and upgrade, same for the XG85, but the actual devices is not rated to run V18 by Sophos in standard for so it would have to be a SW install, XG106 and XG86 came out to replace them

Yes, change of SSD and it worked fine

Yes, just get the HW installer iso and it will revert

Tried that, just has a blank serial number. Oh well. Looks like it’s being sold to a pfsense user anyway lol

Wiped original to get XG home installed. Tbh should have put it to one side as I have prob 6+ 120gb SSD drives on the shelf.
