@Androzani84 Productions I don’t think that’s why. It’s likely that Leo, Luna and Tori were first introduced on Duel Links and during that time, Eileen still VA dub for those characters. But somewhere between that and before Sora’s debut on Duel Links, Eileen left and that’s possibly why Sora got a new VA. It’s a same thing happen on Pokémon anime when Eileen didn’t continuing her role as Iris during the Masters 8 tournament.

With some exceptions (like GX and apparently Zexal), they *try* to stick to the plot when it comes to who shows up when. Shay shows up before Yugo, so expect Shay to come first (unless they decide to put Shay off a little bit in order to give Zexal time to introduce Rank Up Magics first) Yuri doesn't show up until after Shay, Yugo, Riley, Dennis, Moonshadow, and Celina shows up. So unless they speed up his introduction slot, we'll probably get most of the Lancers, as well as Yugo, first before getting Yuri.

Eileen Stevens was the original VA, the one who did Leo and Luna (why Leo just sounds like Sora in the dub). The new one is Jennifer something, it's in the credits now you can check. IMO, Jennifer Silverman does a decent job as Sora's new dub VA. Not the best recast we've had in Duel Links, but not the worst either. I think she does a decent job with her version of Sora. I think like most, if not all, of the other recasts I'll eventually get used to her version. I think in most parts she'd doing a good impression of Eileen Stevens's Sora. My only critique might be when she's raising her voice it sounds a bit off for a character that's a teenager. I don't know. I think she mostly does a good job with her impression, and of course even in parts I perceive to be 'off' that might be how the YGO crew wanted it. Still a big surprise that Eileen Stevens didn't reprise Sora after reprising Tori, Leo and Luna already. Really curious what the reason for that is after she already reprised characters for Duel Links multiple times. Was it a decision made by the crew without asking Eileen first or was Eileen not available? Maybe, and obviously I hope it's not the case, Duel Links is losing money and they needed to cut corners somewhere. With respect to Jennifer, I imagine a long time VA like Eileen would be more expensive to get than hiring a newer VA to do an impression of her character. This is only the second time a cast member that has reprised characters for DL didn't reprise another character later on. The other being Sean Schemmel, but with reports over the years of him being difficult to work with, the leaked audio of him making racist comments etc it's probably accurate to speculate the YGO crew and other companies might've decided they just don't want to work with him anymore. By contrast, Eileen seems like a decent person to work with. It would be interesting to know why Sora had to be recast as I'm sure they would've at least tried to get Eileen again. It also makes you wonder what will happen now if any other Eileen Stevens characters, namely Sherry, are added. Disappointing that Eileen had to be recast for Sora for whatever reason, and possibly the most curious and bizarre recasting in DL so far after she has already reprised multiple characters. I'm sure DL at least tried to get her to reprise Sora as well and that she couldn't for whatever reason, but certainly a curious one. I know I'm curious about the story behind it. Maybe she was unavailable, they couldn't agree on a fee, things going on in her work or personal life etc. I guess what this shows us is until a character is added, it's not set in stone that it will be the original VA. Not even when it's one that has already reprised characters for the game before. I thought it was a no brainer it would be Eileen again and yet here we are. Like I said, I think Jennifer Silverman did a decent job as her replacement and I'm sure I'll get used to her take soon. Just always disappointing when a recast happens.

Sora was conflicted between Academia where he was raised and his newfound friends. He had a hard choice to make, but ultimately joined the good guys and defied his own birthplace which taught him wrong values. He's an extremely great character and I enjoy him as one of my favorite YGO characters as a whole.
